Just extract to Doom 3 base folder. Works only with retail doom 3 and steam doom 3, I don't know how to make it work with BFG Doom nor RoE.

Firstly to address the issue with the Catalyst AI for those with ATI cards. Open catalyst and enable it to run at the system tray if it isn't already. Next right-click on the system tray icon and under one of the options (name of your graphic card) hover your mouse cursor to the option that leads you to the 3d settings. Under the 3D settings should be al whole range of options including Catalyst AI in the middle. Disable it here. This is also the better way than going into the Profiles.xml file to change settings because it didn't work for me.

Lastly Sikkpin this is fantastic, I know you put a lot of time and effort into this and I have to give you my infinite gratitude, because this is one of my favorite games while I was younger. Once again Sikkpin YOU ARE TOTALLY SIKK!!! And keep up the good work.

Nope, can't do that on newer CCC drivers. Even editing the XML file didn't change a thing. Catalyst A.I. doesn't seem to be the issue, nor does triple buffering or surface optimization. Disabling those makes ZERO difference. At least for me. I have Cat 11.6, 5870, Vista 64bit.

Disagree. I am using the latest CCC and using the profiles.xml method I have successfully disabled Catalyst AI. You're not doing it right. I have the 11.6 drivers and CCC and I am running Win7 64 bit.

What's going on here: Img98.imageshack.us

My specs:

Win7 64-bit
3.0GHz Intel Core 2 Duo E8400
Sapphire Radeon HD 5770 1GB
4GB RAM

Playing the Steam version of the game and have CatA.I. turned off. I've never touched CCC, btw, so it's using it's default settings.

If you haven't touched the CCC and it's still at their default settings then CatAI is ON. In older drvers, CatAI is on by default and with newer drivers, you can't even turn it off through the control panel. Look a few posts down for how you can manually turn CatAI off and then get back to me if the problem still persists.

Also, don't force AA/AF through the CCC. Let Doom 3 handle those things.

I've already done that (Hence why I said I turned it off), but it seems to be turning itself back on when the game launches because whenever I disable it in profile.xml, the game is still messed up and "Property name="CatalystAI" is set to 'Enable' again when i quit the game and check it.

I'm using notepad to edit the file, btw, and I'm using the 11.5 drivers (The latest one, I think).

The latest work on these issues is that you can disable "Surface Format Optimizations" in a CCC sub-menu and that should address most of these problems. I have not tried since I use Catalyst 9.10 (cause it's the only version that plays Ghostbusters without lockups on my dinosaur P4 AGP system)

Hmmm, I'd say set the file to "read only" but I doubt that would do anything. Try renaming the "Doom3.exe" to "darkathena.exe". I've heard this can help.

So it turns out that Soft Shadows was causing the problem. Now that that's out of out the way, I found out that I can't actually use any of your graphics settings other than film grain and vignetting (Which I love, btw!). That and everything just looks weird and there seems to be this weird fisheye view as well. I can't use the mod at all, basically.

Oh and I tried what you said. Renaming the exe didn't work because the game wouldn't load and, while CatA.I. had been (and stayed) disabled when I set the .xml file to 'read-only', the game still looked weird. That was before I realised it was the soft shadows, btw.

Here's a pic of what it looks like now. This just has grain and vignetting on. Turn them off and it still looks weird. Also, you can't really make out the fisheye view, but it'd happen if I move around: Img819.imageshack.us

Thanks for all the help, btw.

I'm having these problems, but I'm not going to just put up with them, I'd appreciate help fixing them. I've done everything he has done, and it's looking as it does in his first screenshot.

AI is disabled.
EXE is renamed.
Everything in CCC is set to application defined.
CCC.exe is /closed/ before running the game.
Profiles.xml is edited /and/ set to read-only.
AI is not re-enabling itself, it's staying off, but the problem persists.

@Medevila: Turn off soft shadows in the Sikkmod menu, that stops the game looking like my first pic. It'll end up looking like my second pic, though.

I'm not putting up with it, btw. I too want a fix and I'll reinstall the mod once said fix has been released.

Edit: Do you have a 5770 as well?

Disregard my other comment. I was watching a Sikkmod vid on Youtube by a guy named lhilkid and someone in the comments asked how to get it to work on the Steam version and lhilkid said to go into the 'base' folder and make another folder called 'xpack' and then put the sikkmod folder in there. Then, when you start the game, go to Mods and select Sikkmod.

I did that and it works! Here's a pic of how it looks now: Img834.imageshack.us

Give that a try, Medevila. See if it works for you.

Strange that you'd need to do something like that, but that's good to know. Steam seams to ruin a lot of older games when it comes to mod compatibility. Shame.

Not just mods, sometimes the games themselves have problems. Trying to get the Steam versions KOTOR, The Bard's Tale and Beyond Good & Evil running was an absolute nightmare for me!

BTW, I was playing through D3 with the mod and I've noticed a few graphical glitches when SSAO is turned on:

Img715.imageshack.us

What's up with that? Also, I think the mod caused the Marine to turn into a vampire: Img850.imageshack.us

A very nice update to Doom 3. Pretty much fully customizable ingame and it just works. Simple to use compared to some other enhancement mods I've tried out.

Fantastic stuff. :)
