What is SMRI?
Sid Meier’s Railroads!: Intercontinental (here in known as SMRI) has everything you could ask for: Tanks, missiles, cars, money and lots of it, speeds reaching 200 miles per hour, Military bases, horses, cows, cheese, and elfs! As well as train loads of other new goods to transport over twenty new maps. How long would it take you to play all this? Well we estimate that if you only played each map once it take you well over 21 hours, are these action packed hours? No not really, more like relaxingly addictive hours in which you forget to check the clock and realize you have to get to work, an hour ago. So in the end if you already own a copy of SMR it would be a crime to not install this mod, if you don't own SMR. Well go out and buy a copy, Steam sells it cheap.
SMRI 1.01
Sid Meier’s Railroads!: Intercontinental is now finished as of release 1.01. If you have already downloaded 1.0 pick up the 1.0-1.01 patch other wise head to our website for the full 1.01 installer.
SMRI 2?
Plans are in the works for a second version of SMRI. We intend for it to be independent from 1.01, in other words 2 will not be an updated version of 1 and will instead contain it's own maps.
Very important note
SMRI will not run if you have the Holiday map from Fraxis installed using the installer from their site. So please delete it before installing SMRI. Don't worry about not havingit since we've included it in here with a reworked XML allowing it to run along side SMRI.

Even though I said in the last news post that I was leaving the community, or at least formally saying goodbye that did not actually happen. What did happen was I started working on the spiritual successor to SMRI. My intention for SMRI was to have every map included, this did not turn out to be possible and at the time SMRI was scaled down. The idea being that there would be a SMRI 2 with more maps, as you can guess this never happened. Since I do not have the programing knowledge needed to make, well, anything my new project is unfortuatly not a "true" succesor to SMRI. Instead I know web design, so to make a long story short if you are interested in playing the custom maps not included in SMRI then I invite you to head over to www.smrsimple.com. My goal for the site was to make it easy and accesible to new players interested in playing custom maps. I think I have done quite well in that regard and hope that others will find it usful. Now I bid aduo, I will likely be moving on, this time I really mean it, again.

I solved one problem BUT there was an error during installation: Failed to find train TAG_NAME_GRASSHOPPER
I use the disc version cause I still have it. Almost 2 years ago it kept crashing, and my PCs cpu died and I finally got it working again and the game still crashes.
does it work on disc too
INSTRUCTIONS: 1. Make sure you have a fresh steam-game-installation of Sid Meiers Railroads. 2. Start the game a first time (important). 3. Exit the game. 4. Download SMRI 5. Unzip the downloaded .zip-package to your desktop. 6. Go to your Steam-installation of Sid Meiers Railroads e.g.: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Sid Meier's Railroads 7. Now open the folder "Assets" and copy all the files (it's about 1,4 gb) 8. Go to: &#xUS;ERPROFILE%\Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Railroads 9. Open the folder "CustomAssets" 10. Now paste the copied files 11. Wait till it's done 12. Now open the folder "Localization" from the fresh pasted files 13. Copy all the files again (it's about 57 mb) 14. Go 1 folder back (to "CustomAssets") 15. Open the folder "XML" 16. Paste the copied files 17. Now go to your desktop and double-click on "Setup_SMRI_1.01" with your left mouse-button (with Admin-rights). 18. On the "welcome-page" of the installer click "Next" (if a notification appears then just click "ok" (maybe pops up serveral times)) 19. In the "Destination Folder"-inputbox you must delete the exclamation mark ( ! ) at the end of the word "Railroads!" 20. Now you can click the "Install"-button.
INSTRUCCIONES (En Español):
01. Asegúrate de contar con una instalación proveniente de Steam “fresca” de “Sid Meiers Railroads”.
02. Inicializa el juego por “primera vez” (esto es muy importante de hacer).
03. Sal del juego (cierra la aplicación).
04. Baja el SMRI.
05. Descomprime el archivo descargado .zip a tu “escritorio”.
06. Ve a tu instalación de “Sid Meier´s Railroads” en tu carpeta de Steam ubicada en por ejemplo: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Sid Meier's Railroads .
07. Ahora abre la carpeta “Assets” y copia todos los archivos (son alrededor de 1,4 gb).
08. Ve a: &#xUS;ERPROFILE%\Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Railroads
09. Abre la carpeta “CustomAssets”
10. Ahora pega los archivos copiados (en el “paso 07”).
11. Espera hasta que se termine la operación (descritas en el “paso 07” y el “paso 10”).
12. Ahora abre la carpeta “Localization” de los archivos recientemente copiados.
13. Copia todos los archivos de nueva cuenta (son alrededor de 57 mb).
14. Regresate 1 carpeta (de tu actual ubicación) a la carpeta de “CustomAssets”.
15. Abre el archivo “XML”.
16. Pega los archivos copiados.
17. Ahora ve a tu “escritorio” dale “doble click” (en el archivo descomprimido descrito en el “paso 05”) de nombre "Setup_SMRI_1.01" y con el botón izquierdo de tu mouse (selecciona y) activa los “derechos de administrador”.
18. En la pagina de “bienvenida” del instalador (del Mod “SMRI”) da click en “Next” (si aparece alguna notificación solo da click en “ok”, quizás aparezca en varias ocasiones y solo le das click en “ok”).
19. En la ”carpeta de destino” selecciona la ruta y quitas el “signo de admiración” ( ! ) en la ultima palabra de “Railroads!”.

When I load custom Maps my Game crashes instantly. I think my game wants to force me to use the in- game maps.:)/:(
