A Brief History of Shattered Worlds

800 A.S. was nearly catastrophic to the entire Sirius sector, stretching from the comfortable center of society that was Liberty all the way out to the Border Worlds and beyond. Menacing troop movements by Rheinland pushed President Jacobi of Liberty to invite representatives to Manhattan for discussion; the subsequent destruction of the convoy by a mysterious "Order" echoed throughout the entire sector, sending whispers of war.
 
Tensions flared dangerously and Rheinland began pushing ships all over their borders. Kusari and Bretonia cautioned Rheinland that they would defend their space with force if necessary, and Liberty struggled with its own internal conflicts. For some time it seemed like a war was entirely unavoidable. . .

. . . Until the entire situation suddenly diffused. Where the tensions had flared or why they had suddenly been resolved was kept a secret by the House officials ever since.

Much has changed since the war of 800 A.S. The Houses, once on the brink of war, maintained nearly half a decade of peace. Sirius prospered overall, the House economies flourishing in an unprecedented boom as they rebounded from the war earlier in the decade.

That peace, however, slowly began to break as the Houses began moving inexplicably beyond their own territory in 805 A.S. The other Houses began maneuvering so they wouldn't be caught unawares and off guard. Each sought it's own interests, claiming that they simply were countering the other offensives by their rivals.

807 was a brutal year. The Blood Dragons formed an alliance with the Outcasts and decimated the Kusari House forces while they were embroiled in a bitter battle with both Liberty and Bretonia, forming House Nippon in it's wake, with a Blood Dragon emperor on the throne. That alliance didn't last, however, and the Planet Kyushu was changed forever by an Outcast weapon which "cardiformed" the farming planet. Hundreds of thousands died and hundreds of thousands more were addicted to the illicit drug. After that last act, however, the Outcasts pulled out of Kusari and back into the edge worlds, returning to isolation.

In late 807 as things start to quiet after the tumultuous early year, the mysterious organization known as the Guild appears and begins systematic shocking attacks throughout Sirius. What their intentions are or where they come from is a mystery. One thing is certain, though: everyone in Sirius is their target and their technology is advanced enough that the Houses decide to band together to confront them.

Sirius is now in the twilight of 808 AS. War rocks the nations, conflict sparking at nearly all locations. The Creeping Darkness of the Guild leaves a shadow on Sirius which has many worried about the future. Rumormongers state that the location of the Guild's home base has been found but none have challenged them on their home turf. The landscape has changed, the actions of the growing empires forever changing the face of Sirius. Will you be the next to influence the direction of your people?

A Completely Rebalanced Ship System-

Long gone are the basic classes of Light Fighter, Heavy Fighter, Very Heavy Fighter, and Freighter. In Shattered Worlds: War-Torn, you get to fly how you want! Scouts, Interceptors, Combat Fighters, and Light Bombers make the archetypes of combat vessels, with specializations such as the Heavy Scout, Thrust Interceptor, and Fast Attack Fighter tweaking each class to your liking. With approximately 100 player-flyable ships available, many of which are exclusive to Shattered Worlds: War-Torn, you're sure to find your favorite way to fly.

Completely Overhauled Economy-

Make money how you want! Classic Credit generators such as missions and trading have been redone to be more rewarding and diverse, while new ways to earn have been implemented, including seven new freigher classes designed for different missions. Make the big bucks as a pirate, locking the trade lanes and looting the spoils; smuggle cardamine into lawful space to shady clients; trade goods from luxury food to rubber duckies from one side of Sirius to the other; or dedicate yourself to harvesting the spoils of the galaxy in a mining ship. The decision is yours to make!

All-New Mining System-

A new and exclusive way to mine has been developed by the mod team, making mining just as viable a source of income as even the wealthiest of traders in the largest of trains. So grab your mining ship, aim that mining laser (you won't be able to mine without it!), and haul your precious rock-bound cargo to those waiting to pay you big.

Stunning Graphic Improvements-

With all new effects from custom ALE files; gorgeous, hand-crafted Starspheres; high-quality custom models; and many other huge improvements, Shattered Worlds: War-Torn is the most visually stimulating modification for Freelancer yet.

An Ever-Evolving World-

The Sirius sector is alive in Shattered Worlds: War-Torn. Traders, Miners, Pirates, Police, Bounty Hunters, and Freelancers move from system to system, interacting and communicating, fighting for survival in their ever changing sector of space. Almost a decade has passed since 800 A.S, and the systems show it. Some stations have evolved, factions are advancing, and new powers have emerged from the great black, such as the mysterious Guild, the twisted Nomad Cult, and even the Nomad aliens themselves.

The SW:WT 1.6 release is the next step in the story of Sirius on the Shattered Worlds Freelancer Server. It focuses heavily on realizing the changes to the face of the Sirius sector that have been played out by factions online in addition to adding more detail to the back story of the mod surrounding the mysterious group called The Guild.

There are ~50 completely new ships in the Creeping Darkness update, as well as the Corvettes and Cruisers being made available to non-faction members. There are 2 completely new systems which belong to The Guild and are part of the continuation of the SW:WT mod storyline but on top of that there have been major changes to existing systems that were driven by player role play. The Molly's have extended their influence and consolidated their presence in the Yorkshire system. In Kusari the Blood Empire has been fully realized with re-worked reputations and factions that reflect the House's conquest by the Blood Dragons in the War of Light. Missions against the Guild have also been added in several systems which will definitely test even the most well organized of fighter groups attempting them.

Creeping Darkness is overall a continuation of the very fine work resulting from the SW:WT development team's commitment to high quality graphics, balance and new game mechanics that has made the mod one of the best recognized total conversions for Freelancer.

I've played this great mod in SP for a while now and I have some questions:

1. Is it possible to go to Tohoku and Alaska (the 'real' Alaska, not Alaska-singleplayer)? It says 'Access denied' like in FL but I'm sure there's a way to go to it, because there are changes in Tohoku (seen during the tekagi mission) and in Alaska must be something because it's seperate from the SP one.

2. Are there any more new systems and bases? I found Oregon (Clatsop Base), Green Zone (The Marketplace), Yorkshire (Eboracum Base), Brahe (this one freelancer base, I've forgotten the name), Omicron Minor (Planet Toledo, Battleship Osiris),
Iota (Iota Nomad Lair, Battleship Isis) and 'both' Zetas (Dyson Sphere, Nomad City). Oh, and Planet Maine in New York.

3. Is it possible to turn the ten different required parts for the admin weapons into the weapons in singleplayer?

All in all a great mod, maybe I'll start my online career soon, so you'll be killed by Rheinland Federal Police over and over again...

But everyone: Please answer my questions! Especially you, devs!

Okay I found Nuremburg (shouldn't it be Nürnberg?) with it's two bases and all three jumpholes to Sigma-13, New Berlin and Bering.
And I found Omicron Delta and Omicron Rho with it's freelancer base in each one.

Maybe more to come...

Hi...first I like to say its a very nice mod. Its good balanced and really fun to play!! New stuff, weapons, ect. Mining ability is a nice Idea, just the Asteroids are to weak I think. And it would be nice to have more than 1 ship. dont know if thats possible to mod, just an idea.

...I saw that there are different scanner types and the description of those says something about "LRS scan" I guess that means "Long Range Scan". but I didnt figure out how to do that. I tryed everthing but it wont LRS scan. So is that just a multiplayer function or what am I doing wrong?

Hi Guys, Great mod, glad to see someone has picked up the batton from microsoft and are continuing to keep this game alive.

My question is:- Can we please have the ability to buy The Guild ships, as I think they look real cool.

And perhaps be able to join the Guild,, yes yes I know its admin base but you can still have your God like powers in case there are hackers or cheaters on the server, besides we could be your deputys.

I think it wouldn't be that good to let players buy The Guild ships, they'd lose a lot of their coolness then...
But they look soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo cool..

This is a great mod, ive played on the server for along time and havent lost intrest at all, the community is nice, the gameplce is great :)

Anybody thinking about playing a freelancer mod should definatly choose this one, its great for beginers and experts, mainly becuase of how well balanced it is, which makes every pvp fight eciting and right down to the wire.

The ships that have been added are awesome, the grahpics are great and its just an all round great mod.
