Hello everyone,

Seeing as we're getting into that good old non-denominational holiday spirit (plus the MOTY awards!), we thought we'd put together a neat update for you all.
Over the last couple of of months we've been working dilligently on three things: the Eriador faction, creating new art for the original factions, and overhauling and expanding vanilla BFME gameplay aspects. We'll be showcasing parts of the latter two today. We hope you'll give us a vote in the MOTY awards!

Part One: ORIGINAL FACTION ART

Isengard
Uruk-hai regular armor
Uruk-hai heavy armor
Crossbowmen regular armor
Crossbowmen heavy armor

Mordor

Mordor Orc Fighter
Mordor Orc Archer
Sauron (WIP)

Rohan

Rohirrim
Théoden and Éomer (unmounted)

Gondor
Ithilien Rangers
Faramir and Boromir

Part Two: GAMEPLAY OVERHAUL

We're not only redoing original faction art and adding some new units and heroes. Part of the overhaul is also changing the BFME upgrade system. Heavy Armor will come with a movement speed penalty, Forged Blades will not deal additional damage to structures, and Flaming Arrows are changed completely.

In Shadow and Flame, Flaming Arrows are no longer an upgrade. In the original BFME, Flaming Arrows were an overpowered but accepted gameplay mechanic. In Shadow and Flame, they're a special power given to almost every archer unit at rank 2, allowing them to temporarily deal greatly increased damage to structures only. In place of the Flaming Arrows upgrade, we've added a new, less powerful arrow upgrade for each faction.

In addition to this, we're going to give other unit types special powers as well. Some ideas we have so far:
Gondor Swordsmen
Defenders of the White City
Temporarily gain +15% movement speed and +25% armor.
Gondor Knights
Desperate Charge
Temporarily gain +10% movement speed and -25% crush deceleration.
Galadhrim
Lórien Fletching
Passive. Lórien archers gain +25% range and -15% reload time.

Part Three: BONUS

See what's different about these screenshots:

Hint: Oh what the hell, I'll tell you: we implemented proper 16:9 aspect ratio widescreen support(1280x720, 1600x900, 1920x1080, 2560x1400, etc.). No more stretched palantirs.

We wish you all happy holidays, and don't forget to vote for us!
