This very nice model, I like, but if you can correct me, I have understood that they were wild men ??
I liked a concept

They were called 'wildmen' by their enemies, but that doesn't mean they should be dressed in rags. ;)

YES! I love that these are peoples who are similar to the Rohirrim!

In the drafts of Tolkien, the Dunlendings muster at Dunharrow, they join the Rohirrim when they ride out to Mundburg. =D

I like that two way forgiveness.

My question is: what earth cultures did you base your Dunlendings on? Gaelic as Ringgiver said? I'm thinking Vikings without the sea-culture, but still heavy on the raiding.

Gaelic and Norse. There's Gaelic patterns on their clothes and shields, but they use Norse weapons (specifically Ragnar's axe from the show 'Vikings') and are recruited from a structure loosely based on a Norse stave church.

If they are gonna be elite shock troops they will be expensive... I always used them as early game cheap raiding infantry but in SaF this is not gonna happen I think :/

The reason we decided to use them as shock troops instead of rabble is because of how we have re-worked the fire system. Since these guys have their torches they suddenly become extremely effective against buildings. Most other units are now relatively ineffective against buildings. Fire Arrows is no longer a permanent upgrade, only a temporary ability. So because of all this we needed to have the Dunlendings still be practical, so they will serve as shock troops to essentially do raids with.

Dunlendings, as I understand, will be easy starting army, while the Uruk - regularly or they will simply be some bonus?

Other way around: Uruks are the main force, Dunlendings are 'elite' specialty troops.

Description

Dunlendings in SaF will not be of the mindless rabble variety. Instead, we've opted to turn them into more of an elite shock trooper force based on their descriptions in the books.
