The year is 1939. Poland celebrates the 21st year of independence regained after 123 years of partitions by Russia/Austria/Prussia. On September 1st armed forces of Germany and Slovakia, followed by Soviet Union on September 17th attack Poland - all without any war declaration, breaking the non-aggression pacts and international laws. An uneven struggle begins as Poland mobilises it's forces in face of the aggression. World War 2 begins - the most bloody and life-costing conflict in human history...

September 1939 mod reunites the former founding-fathers of the original Operation Flashpoint modification (MarekModel & Jaksa), bringing some "fresh blood" on board (such as myself, Abs, Lecholas and recently Vilas). Goal of ours is to recreate the weaponry, gear and armament of the Polish Army, as well as the opposing sides as truly to the historical facts as possible, including a believable 1930's environment, depicting Poland contemporary to the events.

3(+) fighting factions, 1 civilian faction - all featuring equipment never before seen to such an extent in a WW2 mod; We've raised the bar high for ourselves; but intend to keep the promise and hope to deliver as much of the original mod idea as possible.

Four factions, each with a vast array of original equipment, weapons, civilians and their vehicles - plus a believable environment... All of this requires a lot of work - if you feel like your 3D-modelling skills can come in handy and contribute to completion of the mod, or expansion of the current content; we invite you to contact us :)

Is there some penetration system implemented other than the A2's whatnot hitpoint-system?

Do you have any plans of later making about the Polish forces who fought with the British in Operation Overlord? Like in Hill 262?
Awesome work you have done so far, i've always been interested in start of WWII, almost no games cover it.

sounds good,by any chance, despite the title being 1939, will the mod ever expand so that their is the option to do some early war eastern front battles, with the soviets against the germans.

Sorry to be that disappoinitng but it'd be a 'no' to your question, we do not envisage such possibility at the moment. If there's going to be an expansion, we rather think of the post-September resistance movements to be depicted.

Though, via the mission editor you'll be able to play Germans vs. Soviets as much as you like to ;)(given the 1939 equipment it'd be pure fiction, but...)

What i dont get is, well...the poles got crushed. They were out gunned and had terrible equipment...will this just consist of retreating the whole time? I joke but really what will you be doing?

figalot... Well, the outcome of the campaign was that we were defeated, right. But this happened after a whole month of putting up resistance to both invading armies. Maybe the equipment at our disposal was not as good as the German hardware, but despite of that our units were (at numerous occasions) able to hold off or even push back the enemy while counterattacking, scoring some impressive victories (unfortunately without any significant tactical meaning if one puts them into a broader context).

You may claim it's not worth our work, depicting a lost campaign - but it will be challenging I think. Is it not boring to be on the winning team always? Plus, try to survive using this 'terrible equipment'. The soldiers stationed at Westerplatte outpost survived 7 days, facing ground, air and sea attacks with just this equipment at their disposal, giving hope and boosting morale of the soldiers of whole Poland. Google Westerplatte to see what they were up against ;) If this is not challenging, than what is ;)

Plus:
Arma2 gives us an excellent oportunity do virtualy recreate the equipment of that time. We do not have the privilege of having this all in our museums, practically all was destroyed during the war. With Arma2's possibilities we're able to bring this back to life.

But, if you decide you're more after an "easy" walk through the battlefield, you'll always can choose the RKKA of the Wehrmacht. ;)

Also if the campaign is made well enough it can have a dark and gloomy atmosphere so to speak. a little dose of reality since no matter how hard they player tries Poland still loses. You know a kind of drama aspect to it especially if the Polish resistance would be added and the campaign be expanded into the occupation of Poland and its brutally effective insurgency which got so bad to the point that the Germans posted signs near all forested areas outside of major cities "Achtung Bandits" meaning warning bandits which was their version of the word terrorists back in the day. It also shows how afraid they were >:)

But most importantly it would shed light upon a long forgotten campaign and the beginning of a world wide war of attrition that would last for 5 years. It could also bring to light long forgotten and forsaken hero's of WW2 like the ones in the great book "A Question of Honor".

It will have such an atmosphere, no worries. I am working on, and already shown POW soldiers, devastated equipment, wrecks. I'm about to make some dead horses too. No worries, we're not making a sci-fi mod showing how we're effortlessly marching straight to Berlin ;)

Actually we were not crushed so easily and we had very modern equipment some of which was better than German or Soviet counterparts. The only problem is that we didn't have enough of that equipment for an aggressive campaign thus leaving us only with a defensive war as our only effective tactic. We were fighting a war of attrition against the Germans and the only thing that broke our backs so to speak was the soviets surprise attack on Poland and that it had allied it self with the Germans. No one could have imagined this as a possibility since in ideology and politics the Communists and Nazis were opposites and hated each other. But yea Hitler and Stalin made a secret deal in the Ribbentrop Molotov pact to cooperate in the destruction of Poland and divide its territory equally among themselves.

Had the Soviets stayed neutral then Poland would have held out for at least another month via the Romanian Bridgehead while English war materials would resupply them. Should Poland have held out longer than that the British Expeditionary Forces would have reinforced them there while the French would have attacked Germany's vulnerable Western border essentially ending the war by early 1940.

Also we never stopped fighting. Even after the capital Warsaw fell after being besieged for weeks on end Polish military forces either escaped to allied nations to continue the fight there or stayed behind and immediately began organize one of Europe's largest and most effective resistance movements the Armia Krajowa AKA The Home Army which throughout the war constantly sabotaged German supply routs, ammo dumps, communications, rail road lines, and even went so far as to assassinate high ranking German officials and officers. They also supplied the allies with detailed information about Nazi troop movements, locations of concentration camps as well as what was happening there, to even capturing an intact German V2 rocket of which they disassembled and created schematics of it to be sent to the allies.

In April or 1944 they even went so far as to retake control of the capital in what is now known as the Warsaw Uprising and for a whole month they held out while the allies ignored their requests for resupply and assistance. Our own Polish Parachute Brigade based in England at the time was not allow to even join the fight in Warsaw which was the sole reason for the units creation.
