Sedition mod for Half-Life 2

The world in sedition is much like it is today, only with a different history. At the turn of the 21st Century, the world was finding itself more and more at war with itself. Countries couldn't trust each other, and politicians were leading entire societies down the drain with pointless conflict. It all culminated with the collapse of the US dollar. Half way into the 21st Century, the United States government finally went over its head. The deficit had grown so large that investors simultaneously pulled their money out of the US. With every action there is reaction. The US dollar collapsed, taking 90% of businesses down with it.

Within 10 years following the collapse, communication between countries overseas abruptly stopped. Why it stopped no one is quite sure. What was sure is that the planet earth was immediately dropped into a dark age. Famine and pestilence followed, as the workers refused to deliver supplies and keep the power planets operational. Some power plants without proper handling simply overloaded and dumped their cores through the bottom of the reactor into the water table, causing massive irradiated sections of the United States. Separated by these wastelands, the United States split into three countries. The California Republic, the New US, and Libretaria.

100 years past and out of the ashes arose a new phoenix. Isolated from each other by various natural dividers, the three countries developed differently. The Californians stuck to a commune system and lived much like people did at the turn of the 20th Century. The Libretarians took all the knowledge they had horded during the riots and developed a society around intellectuals. The people of the New US looked to their former masters, the corporations for guidance. Led by the authoritarian rule of several companies, the US quickly rebuilt itself into a corpratocracy, government run by business.

The year is now 2332. Technologically, each country has grown considerably, especially the New United States. Very little is known about the rest of the world however, and communication between the three countries is tenuous at best. At one of the major New United States cities, a lonely security specialist by the name of Colin Matrix is about to wake up to what he thought would be a normal day at the office. He is just like every other good citizen, obeys the law, questions nothing, and pays corporate dues. Soon his world will collapse all around him...

Sedition is a single player modification of the Half-Life 2 source engine. It will be a total conversion and will be released (hopefully) in chapters. The mod will feature different types of game play as well as original game play concepts to further immerse players in the environment. The story of the mod is set a few centuries from now, and draws on cyberpunk, gothic, futuristic, as well as post-modern concepts.
