We are planning to work only the Source remake of Wolfenstein3D, but - as allways - we need a source coder, because I hate to stop the works...

I need some very important information about the network game for Source Engine 2007 (!)

Dear ReWolf watchers,

I need some very-very important information about the network game for Source Engine 2007. In shortly: how can we start a visible (listen or dedicated) server for the mod? I have not the best router, this is why I'm not sure that the problem is in my side or not. Last time the direct connection is worked, but of course it's not enough, We want to see the server in the serverbrowser. (It works perfectly in LAN)

I want to keep this engine, but need to know how can we play the mod over the internet. Please don't send untried datas, links...etc. I saw different ports on different sites, this is why I ask to send only actual works and tested solution. It's impossible to convert the actual sdk into Source2013, I added many new and working things.

The winner will get the actual form of the mod for further testing if he/she wants (or give permission to keep the mod updated) on the next week.

Thank you,
:))))

ohh, and Marry Christmas + Happy New Year of course for everyone!

Have you enabled Port-Forwarding on the router to the ports you have the server set to? It has been a long time since i've done this myself, but you need to enable port forwarding.

Of course I used Port Forwarding. When I worked on Mohaa Coop, sometimes it's worked, sometimes not. I saw different ports on different sites, this is why I need concrete and working ports.

Well the basic source port (27015) is not working ? 27017 was working for E.Y.E or 7777 is pretty universal...

Hmm that i do not know then... I see **** tons of source game having troubles with steam server list connections (like insurgency)
I guess the fact that you are running on an old version is not helping either... Maybe you should ask Moddb.com Pal-18, he resurrected Modular Combat and hosted some servers for it. You can see them on the list normally.

I wanted to make a game in Counter-Strike, and have people play it with me, I found out I had to rent a server. So I did, and added mod, mods, to it and had fun. I think applies to what your trying to do, you need someone hosting a dedicated server, if not look into renting one and uploading the files for it to run with... Hope this helps!

Here's how to do it:

1) Download SteamCMD from Media.steampowered.com extract to folder of your choice (Eg. C:\SteamCMD)

2) Open the folder you extracted the zip to. Right click steamcmd.exe and select 'create shortcut'.

3) Right click the shortcut to steamcmd, select properties and at the end of the target box paste the following:

+login anonymous +force_install_dir "C:\Server Folder" +app_update 310 validate +quit

4) Run it and wait.

P.S. If your mod is configured to use the old GCF system, you will need to update it (reprogram) to use the new VPK system instead or else your players will need to extract the data from their HL2DM vpks into their mod directory.

P.P.S The only outgoing port you need open is UDP 27015, dont open TCP 27015 as that leaves your server open to RCON hack attempts. You need some outgoing ports too, but i forget what they are. Check srcds.com
