Science and Industry 2: 1.1 (Beta)
Aug 01, 2008 Full Version 5 commentsThis is the Science and Industry 2 v1.1 update in zip form.
Science and Industry 2 is a teamplay modification for Half-Life 2. It is the sequel to the long-running Half-Life modification Science and Industry. Players take on the role of Security Officer in a bitter struggle between two rival corporations in the world of defence technology research.
It is the job of Security Officers to acquire and protect the company's most valuable resources - the scientists, which develop technologies for the company, and the technologies themselves. Since it is the technologies and scientists which generate the income for your company, which in turn keeps the company at the leading edge of the business world, these resources are vital to success.
However, the company isn't content with just having its own scientists and technologies - the opposition also has plenty of scientists working for them. Stealing scientists from the opposition is a great way to increase productivity, and keep those new technologies coming thick and fast.
Of course, the opposition has the same idea, so defending the company's existing resources is as important as "recruiting" new ones. Of course, the intricate threads of the universe are difficult to untangle when standing in the middle of a firefight, so for maximum productivity, keep the combat out of the laboratory areas as much as possible.

Hey all, we are finally releasing the 1.1 update. This update fixes a number of things people had issues with in 1.0, as well as adds a little bit of new content. Some of the changes include:
Check out the forums for the full release notes. Additionally, we have moved Science and Industry 2 to the Orange Box Engine, meaning you need to have the Source SDK Base - Orange Box installed to play, and you no longer need to own Half-Life 2: Deathmatch, either. We are also providing an installer version in addition to the zipped version for easy installation.
We hope this update makes the mod a little bit nicer to play.

this mod is awsome but I cant get the player models to turn and I don't know why
I hope this mod for source does what TF did to HL1. I too have S&I for HL1 great mod. hope u guys dnt let this mod die.
If you want people to play get the word around tell your friends, post on your blogs. It sounds ridiculous but if you want people to try something out you gotta show them the door.
wow science and industry for hl was amazing, i'm gonna download and play this and i hope other people will too.
I would absolutely love to have a proper game of this, but no-one is playing it. I've had a little run-around the maps on the empty servers, and it looks like it ould be brilliant. It's a real shame.
My laptop seems to be on its last legs, so I can't really play for more than about 15 minutes at a time, but I'm building a desktop when I get home this weekend, and so I plan on trying to play more regularly then.
The one thing S&I 2 should definitely have is tactics... More gadgets can help you plan offensive or defensive tactics.
Here is some suggestions (If already listed then scratch that):
- Hidden Cameras you can lay down and use with a video tool.
- A sticky trap that slows down or even stops any player that steps on it (can't jump or move).
- An oil slick trap that makes players unable to maneuver or jump(no jump but can move).
- An fiery proximity trap that sets any players in 1-2 feet on fire for 6 damage for 10 seconds.
- A detection trap which will pin point a laser on any enemy and sound an alarm (invisible or not) (1 enemy per unit).
Walkermag: "Please , if you have any development skills whatsoever, then apply to join the team, and maybe this mod can reach it's full potential."
I have development skills, I'm a professional mapper and I'd seriously join. But time kills. I am currently working on a mod called "Opposing Force 2". More info here: Moddb.com
Anyway, my hint for you guys is: Don't release anything alpha-ish like that. People will start to avoid the full release, once the mod is released. Just sit down and discuss what to improve, with your team members.
About three .
The problem is that nobody plays on the servers.
