Der Schwarze Nebel is a mod for Valve's Half-Life 2: Episode Two, that presents a reimagination of various locations found in leaked and cut content of Half-Life 2 related to the storyline from 2000-2003.
DISCLAIMER: This mod isn't aimed to 100% recreate a totally canon storyline. So it might not be accurate or close to both old and retail variants of Valve's Half-Life 2 lore.
Instead of recreating the old Half-Life 2 storyline, Der Schwarze Nebel is going its own way as an anthology-type compilation of maps from WC Mappack with visually updated surroundings utilizing FakeFactory's Cinematic Mod 2013 assets and platform.
Der Schwarze Nebel v1.82 (1.83a)/v1.7: These versions are the old demos with several unfinished, but somehow playable chapters. Most of the levels are placeholders as you can see. There are noticeable issues such as lack of scripted sequences on many maps, unoptimized AI navigation which resulted in dull and boring combat, placeholders everywhere, low framerate on some of the maps, major level design issues (wrong order of the chapters/maps, weird and nonsense details), stupid teleport-transitions which are placeholders until the gameplay zones will get properly merged together.
Basically the demos are all about running and shooting everything that moves.
Der Schwarze Nebel v2.0: The goal of 2.0 version will be fixing and updating most of the maps and assets presented in test versions such as 1.0, 1.7 and 1.83a, that were released a couple years ago. The v2.0 will solve most of the fundomental issues with the gameplay in the mod.

Hello folks, Demon667_schwarz here. I'm posting a quick heads up to inform you on what's happening with Der Schwarze Nebel right now. While I was very busy with Cinematic Mod: Awakening (my another project) I left Der Schwarze Nebel to a couple of other mappers from NH-Team to finish work on 2.0 release. But sadly the mappers who are now responsible for Der Schwarze Nebel working on it very slowly.. I'm not sure how long it will take for them to get everything done, but they still have a lot of chapters from 1.82 to update. When I gave DSN to other people on the team I didn't expect how long it will take to work on the update. But yeah, don't forget that the mod is all built on pure enthusiasm and we all have personal life and other stuff to do IRL.
Right now the work is focused on Air Exchange, Quarry Town, Canals and Underground. It's unlikely that 2.0 will make it to release in this year for now, due to the speed of work and the amount of unfinished stuff. But you know, there is a reason why it takes so long. The release of 1.7 and 1.82 wasn't very good honestly, because I wanted to release it on promised release date and as a result the mod was released in very bad condition with lots of bugs and gameplay issues. Note that I was working on DSN alone at that moment, so of course one person can't test such a big mod properly..
So anyways, that's it for now. Thank you for reading and have a nice day.
P.S. I'll try to post some sneak peaks later, if I will have some spare time.
