A single-player total conversion of Cube2-Sauerbraten with focus on adding rpg/adventure elements. The goal is to make gamebuilding as fun as playing a game, with intuitive menus and guides to help anyone make their own open-source rpg/adventure game, without prior knowledge of programming or 3D-modeling.

SabiCube 1.2

The 1.2 release will focus on automating the gamebuilding-process, and add several new features like npc-persuation, updated alchemy-script, and an initial test of the "npc-dialog-creation-kit".

Some additions to SabiCube 1.2 might temporarily break support for existing games, and if you find a bug, please leave a message on moddb.

SabiCube is tested on 64-bit (Kubuntu 13.10) and 32-bit (Linux Mint 15 Xfce), and installing should be fairly simple, just extract the zip-file and place the sabicube-folder in your home-dir. If you haven’t played games on your computer, you might need to install some dependencies, an easy way to get them all, is to just install Sauerbraten from your repository. To start the game you just execute sabicube_unix. If you have problems, just follow this guide: Github.com

Can I ask you something? Will you be bringing this mod to Windows and Mac? It's just that I don't have a Linux and I would really love to see what you've made here. Or is it something you would do (Or get a friend to do) once it's all been ironed out in a later build?

Thanks.

I'm looking into making a bootable image with SabiCube and a small distro, but I'm not planning to release anything new before the npc-dialog is complete, so you might have to wait a couple of months.

atm. we are only two working on the project, and none of us use win/mac, so unless someone else manage to build it (or make a manual for others), the prospect of a win/mac release is very unlikely.

Just a little heads up to anyone following the development.

As some of you might know, Metro Last Light was just released for Linux, so things might slow down a bit for the next weeks, but I'll be back ;-)

Wort a look but I think no ones gonna get linux just for this.Too bad.Im sure it would get more attention on windows.Any special reasons why this only works with linux ?

One of the reasons I started this project, was the lack of games on Linux, I use Linux for everything else and was tired of having to dual-boot.
I have very little experience compiling on Windows, and since the release of Steam for Linux, I no longer have a Windows environment to compile the source on.

But if someone else want to compile it for Windows or Mac, I'd be happy to include these in the next release.

You can try and Flash boot or USB boot, but I wouldn't recommend it.

Just install a small/low resource distro and it should play fine.

You just gave me a great idea :-)

It would be cool to make an iso-image with a minimalistic distro and SabiCube, something like live.linuX-gamers.net did.

If you don't want to loose your current os, you can always dual-boot.

You should be able to fit a minimal install of Ubuntu and SabiCube on less than 10Gb.

The github-version now have lots of new stuff.

* mana
* playerskill manaregeneration
* basic alchemy inspired by morrowind (scripting not complete)
* playerskill alchemy allow player to make better potions
* new hudguns sword and magic
* new hud with 10 slots, tied to hotkeys
* all inventory-items can be placed and used in the new hud
* new npcs and monsters
* notifier when player have gathered enough experience for a level
* lots of bugfixes, and lots of interesting new bugs

There are no 32-bit binarys yet, since development mainly is done on a 64-bit system, but one can be provided if anyone is interrested.

Tanks all for the nice comments :-)

I have just updated SabiCube on github and wanted to warn that from now on, the github-version is highly experimental, and not to be considered stable, while I work on implementing the new game-style, so if you do wish to test it, I advise to keep the two versions separated.
The new game (working title "Age of reason"), is far from finished, but many of the basic requirements for a traditional rpg, are working on an elemental level.
