Cheers & welcome back!

Work has started on reviving the Ruiner.  I am currently piecing together the new website for it and mountains of content needed.  The website will function more than just a simple site like in the past with basic info.  It will feature a wealth of content on the back story, mythology and social network aspects.  The design and social aspect are finished.  It is now digging up and editing in content that was never shown before.  Additionally I am creating many new pieces of art for it.  Once enough has been created for a launch, focus will then start on the webcomic and setting a release date.  Even after launch, the site will continue to grow weekly with new features, articles and strips.  The comic is being drawn with digital viewing in mind.

Once everything is full gear and running smooth, we'll start to talk about the upcoming game some more. The basics have been laid out for it and it is my hope this will see its first release in by the end of next year.

Spin Attack triggers dash by mistake, because the length of the swing animation differs randomly. Make it (during Attack) tap Strafe Right - Strafe Left.

Animation for Sword Alt Attack should be different than regular attack. It should be a thrust. Then the Dashing Thrust command makes sense.

Finisher 1 : Attack, Attack, Alt Attack = Swing, Swing, Front Kick - makes sense that the thrust button should result in a straight kick.

Finisher 2 : change to Attack, Attack, Back + Alt Attack = Swing, Swing, Spinning Kick - The leg travels behind, hence the back button.

Finisher 3 : Alt Attack, Attack, Attack = Thrust, Swing, Yellow Energy Swing

Finisher 4 : change to Attack, Attack, Front + Alt Attack = The last move is a concealed thrust - the new command is by analogy to Finisher 1 above.

Finisher 5 : Isn't this the same as Spin Attack? Four finishers is plenty and this one should be eliminated, also the command conflicts with Finisher 1.

I intend this comment to be constructive criticism and would welcome further communication by the developer and the gamers on this forum.

Ruiner is one of the few worthwhile Doom 3 mods, and I'm still playing it.

Here are my suggestions to make it even better:

1. Make thirdperson view default

2. Eliminate the Interact key. Activate levers with melee attack instead. Exchange currently held weapon with crouch.

3. Decide what to call the second attack button. In Options > Controls, it is called 'Melee Attack', on the command reference it is called 'Alt Attack'. I would go for the latter, since when you hold the sword, regular attack is also a melee attack.

4. Eliminate the Weapon Mode key. Put Mode II in the weapons list, so that it goes Sword > Arrows > Flaming Arrows > Shuriken > Flaming Shuriken.

5. Currently, a flaming shot consumes 5 regular shots. This makes no sense. Have burning shots consume one projectile + some soul energy. If player runs out of soul energy, the weapon autoswitches to non-flaming version.

So far I am liking what I am seeing and playing. But my biggest gripe would be that the config files do not save and always overwrite. I have a wide screen monitor that does 1920x1200. I set up the file to do so and after about 15 times of setting the file up it finally takes and then the next time I load it it is back to 800x600 full screen. so then I said F it, I will just do from in the game menu for windowed 1280x1024 res, once again after about 10 or so tries it finally loads like asked and then I play. the next time I load the game its back to full screen 800x600. anyone have a solution for this.... I love the mod and it is some high quality stuff and I would play it way more if it would just stay configured right and me not have to mess with it for about 10 minutes each time I play it. Thank you

-Probably the greatest Doom3 mod since 'Last Man Standing,' Ruiner was an outstanding experience, and clearly shows the dedication to a time-taken mod, far exceeding the development of many mods that tend to appear highly unproffesional, and what it lacked in experience it made up with outstanding development skills, such as high quality mapping, texturing, and the mod itself could esily be the base to a whole new game.
The game submerges the player into an experience Entirely different to that of Doom3, and manages to keep the "Doomer" in 'love' with the game, at least to those who favor "medieval" style environments. Even those who don't, such as myself, will be intrigued by the great environments that Ruiner provides, something missing in Doom3.
-As far as a medieval game goes, Ruiner may have been missing many aspects of a modern medieval combat game, but what it was missing with a bad aspect it made up for with other things. One bad aspect is long, and rather Quite boring battles with the bosses, but amazing AI and many of their new abilities were impressive.
-The only true thing that brings me to lower a rating to the mod is it's precis requirements, as far as a PC owner's graphics card. Although Doom3 itself encounters such problems, it rarely sees such problems, but Ruiner seems to be incompatible with rather many cards. This WAS a beta, so it's possible and probable that a 'final' release of patch might fix most of the problems and give Many more people the ability to play the mod.
To the modders, "Well done, Ruiner was a delight to play, with it's amazing story, features, maps, and a foxy new 'lady-character.'"
I hope to see more in this mod later, and also hope to hear people's good feedback on the game. In my eyes, the mod was Definetely worth the time it took to develop.

Interesting game, shame that the combat is a bit simple. Reminds me of Severance Blade of Darkness. This game has better graphics (obviously) better archery (but thats pretty easy to beat), but the combat is far to simplistic. Severance had a whole variety of melee weapons to pick from, and all sorts of variety of attacks you could do based on what movement keys you press, you could dodge (in this game you can do that, but it looks weird, you move way to far, and way to fast, its like you almost teleport) you could parry if you had a 2 handed weapon, and you could use shields that could break if they took enough punishment. The enemies you versed against used weapons also, and a fight with one of them meant using all your skills with that weapon where put to the test, and even though there wasn't much else to do in the game (you could also search for a hidden Rune on certain levels which are protected by traps which I thought was a nice touch), ever fight felt different and exciting, and when you came up against a boss enemy it wasn't as great, just a matter of timing (dodge its powerful attack and attack it while its preoccupied). This game has some nice enemies recycled from Doom 3... soul power idea looks nice... but this game doesn't have the sword play, just a click button to attack. The stuff that matters is the sword play. You guys would have been better off making a good mod for Severance instead of Doom 3.
