As of 8-May-2020, RTJP has ceased development. A massive thanks to everyone who helped out, contributed and supported the mod in its development!

It has been five years since the events at Isla Nublar, five years since John Hammond's dreams of grandeur came crashing down, and in that time the infamous park has supposedly been destroyed and dismantled, its prehistoric inhabitants wiped from the planet once more.

But life finds a way.

1998. You are Diane Forman, an private military contractor working in Panama. Your superior receives a contract concerning a delicate and important mission that comes with a large reward, offering you part of the fortune - despite your doubts - should you join him. You are to travel alone to Isla Nublar, Costa Rica, and retrieve one of the most valuable pieces of technology ever engineered by mankind - dinosaur embryos. Upon landing at the largely intact ruins of the facilities, you are quickly stranded and left to fend for yourself against the primal inhabitants of an age long past. Soon, however, you learn that there are others interested in obtaining the technology that InGen left behind, and a simple fetch-and-return mission turns into a nightmare. Ultimately, you discover that the monsters of the Mesozoic era might not be the deadliest creatures prowling the ruins of Jurassic Park...

Return to Jurassic Park is a mod for the 1998 PC game "Trespasser" set on Isla Nublar several years after the events of the first film. Running on an upgraded Trespasser engine, players will get to explore the abandoned facilities through several expansive levels covering the entire island, while at the same time searching for weapons and supplies as well as solving challenging puzzles; encounter a wide range of dinosaurs, from the tiny compsognathus to the massive aquatic tylosaurus; and uncover a story unlike any previously presented in a Trespasser mod.

Hey Moddb crowd!

I just wanted to post a little status update on the mod overall, especially since we haven't had a real news article on Moddb for a long time!

As of right now, there is only one area of the level which hasn't been built up in some way or another, but everywhere else is either done or halfway there. You can at last travel all the way from the start to the end without entering an area without detail! What this means is that Helipad is actually beginning to feel complete at last...level wise, at least - there are still triggers to write, puzzles to script, and dialogue to record. There aren't very many models left to make, though the ones that are left are mostly major locations (some of which hppav - TresCom's long-lost JP modeller - sadly worked on but never released).

Just guessing at this point, my prediction is that Helipad on its own will provide around 2ish hours of gameplay, and that's not counting the three prologue levels, either, which will come as part of the same release.

As most of the models required to complete Isla Nublar are now finished, future levels will come along much faster, especially since the next level shares a fair amount of area with this one. However, as I said above, some of the major locations are not done yet. Therefore, I ask whether anyone with modelling skills would like to offer their assistance to complete some of these iconic locations from the movie in order to get the level moving out of the mapping stage and into the scripting stage? The models which I could use an extra hand with - based as closely upon their movie counterparts as possible - are:

There are a few other models which I could certainly use an extra hand making in order to speed up the development process. These are:
-Visitors Center, finishing from hppav's model and the work I have done on it.
-Main Utility Shed/Emergency Bunker. These buildings shared an interior set during production and therefore only require some modifications between the two to differentiate them.

There are a few other models which I could certainly use an extra hand making in order to speed up the development process. These are:
-InGen helicopter, as seen in the movie.
-A mercenary helicopter.
-Various buildings based on the architecture of Panama City, Panama.
-A realistic Hummer H1.
-A small variety (3-4) of civilian cars.
-Several human character models.
-Various weapon models.
-Animal models, not entirely limited to dinosaurs.
-Several buildings and locations not seen in the movie - either fully original for this mod or based on those from the Telltale video game.

Send me a PM either on Moddb or preferrably TresCom.org (my username there is "TheIdiot") if you're interested so we can discuss getting these structures done as accurately and efficiently as possible, and so that I can add you to the team!

For those interested, please keep in mind that Trespasser is a very old game and that there are limitations on the maximum poly count per model which can be used in-game; this limit is 2048 faces per mesh (larger meshes can be broken up into seperate sections - ex. parts of the Visitor Center all named "SVCTurrent1", "SVCLobbyFloor", etc.). You can check out models in other Trespasser levels to get an overall feel for what a Trespasser model should look like - excellent examples of the quality we are aiming for include East Dock, Jurassic Park Dark Secrets, and some meshes from old versions of RTJP.

Hey, all - I posted this a while ago on TresCom but forgot to do so here on Moddb.

As of 8-May-2020, RTJP has ceased development. A massive thanks to everyone who helped out, contributed and supported the mod in its development!

Please see this link for further details as well as the download link to the final package.

Everything in this mod may be used freely within other Trespasser projects. If you want to use RTJP assets outside of Trespasser, please ask me first.
Have fun!

Sloooow. We've made some really cool new additions, but the actual development of the level (or at least, things I can show you) is taking a while as I've been busy.

T.I., I'm seriously impressed with what both you and your team have done here. I think it's obvious that you guys deserve the title of the 'best Trespasser modders' around. If the game played and looked this great back in '98, gamers would be waiting impatiently for Trespasser 5 to be released. I'm truly looking forward to playing this.

Heya Reb, thanks a lot! Though I think it's safe to say that if it weren't for a lot of the work you guys did on the other TC levels, there wouldn't be a RTJP, period.

Does anyone know what the name of the special dinosaur is in the Labyrinth mod level? Is it a Therizinosaurus, Deinocheirus, or an oversized Gallimimus?

While I don't really see what the relevance of this is to the mod - it's a deinocherius if I recall correctly. Pretty sure it's a modification of the TC Isle gallimimus model.

Yes, just behind-the-scenes as usual. I made a slight change in format as to how I'm designing the levels so I've been unable to post screenshots for the time being.
