Our primary goal is to make a playable Classic Cooperative mod for the SP version of RTCW. Check out our media section to see the ingame shots. RTCW was an almost perfect game in 2001, the Cooperative mod was the only missing thing. Now we are trying to make this possible! As you can see on the ingame-shots, it's not impossible! :))))

The first step is to finish the works to play the whole campaign + some new maps in cooperative mod. You and your friends are simple soldiers who goes through BJ’s adventure.

After more than a year (time flies), there is finally a new release.
MAN-AT-ARMS has put most of his time in this new release and as usual ssf.sage managed to fix lots map bugs.
Which resulted in a stable 1.0.0 version of this awesome game.

What do we have ?
The gameplay is exactly the same as in previous release, but its stable and rock solid. So you probably think, so whats new ?
For those of you who know the Quake 3 Arena Engine mod, ioquake3, I have good news for you, all the ioquake3 features are ported to rtcwcoop.
For those of you who don’t know what’s ioquake3 is, these are the important features in a nutshell:

  • New sound code to have better sound quality
  • 64bit support
  • built-in voice-over-ip (voip), if you have a headset and the server enables the feature, you can now talk to your coop friends
  • avi video capture of demos, no more rendering thousands of tga files
  • much improved autocompletion of console commands
  • console history (it remembers the commands from your previous sessions)
  • http/ftp downloads, aka faster map downloads
  • and lots of bug and security fixes
  • A completely new (and optional) renderer, which gives you a lot more eyecandy (to enable it, type in the console: /cl_renderer rend2; vid_restart, to disable it: replace rend2 with opengl1 )

One other important change is that we’ve moved all the coop related files from ‘main’ to a folder called ‘coopmain’, this allows you to mix the stock rtcw mp and sp games with coop, you don’t have to copy all the pk3′s to a new place for coop to work.

How to install:
Unzip the downloaded file into your rtcw installation. Make sure that the ‘coopmain’ folder from the zip file is at the same level as the ‘main’ folder from your rtcw installation.
In case you only have the rtcw pk3′s but no existing installation, unzip the downloaded file, and move your rtcw pk3′s inside the ‘main’ folder.
New Cvars and ConsoleCommands ?

Seems like spawnpoints you created are the best way to solve this. It's a shame that on lower difficulties you can simply win the level by having more lives than usual but respawning of enemies can compensate this :) Now it's about how well they will respawn (place and time) because there can occur quite ridiculous situations like player 'spraying' one doorway over and over and such if you know what I mean... I would love to try it in practice soon :)

Overall I'm just afraid that there will be no or very limited option of loosing. For example Sven Coop for HL is like that and it is not fun anymore (I've might missed some setting though :D)

Next thing I'm quite curious about is how the bigger number of enemies will affect the gameplay. Sometimes levels where carefully designed with enemy positions (and probably counts) in mind I believe, especially in case you wanted to go silent.

Can you sometimes in the future add Coop mod to other WWII Q3 engine games of that era (MoH: Allied Assault, first CoD)? It would be superb! Still happy that you're working 'even just' on this one :)

There is a maxlives cvar on the server, so if you like to have limited lives, tis possible.

Enemies don't respawn when you are near them (when they are dead and its their time to respawn), they always respawn when nobody sees them.

About the limited option of loosing, we'll have to see when a lot of games are played, tweaks will be provided.

The sneak maps are changed, you don't have to be silent anymore. And marvin placed the extra enemies on very good positions he has put a lot of time in this and I'm happy with the result.

Other games arent open source, so its not possible, and I'm not interested in these games anyway, they are too slow for me. (and I don't have that much free time ;) )

Coop for an old classic game like RTCW???!!! Oh it gets a 10, it's got a few bugs but I'm sure they will fix these later on. A very well done mod , they should update the installer to find my Steam folder for people that bought it there they might be confused where that is in the C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common
