Our primary goal is to make a playable Classic Cooperative mod for the SP version of RTCW. Check out our media section to see the ingame shots. RTCW was an almost perfect game in 2001, the Cooperative mod was the only missing thing. Now we are trying to make this possible! As you can see on the ingame-shots, it's not impossible! :))))

The first step is to finish the works to play the whole campaign + some new maps in cooperative mod. You and your friends are simple soldiers who goes through BJ’s adventure.

After more than a year (time flies), there is finally a new release.
MAN-AT-ARMS has put most of his time in this new release and as usual ssf.sage managed to fix lots map bugs.
Which resulted in a stable 1.0.0 version of this awesome game.

What do we have ?
The gameplay is exactly the same as in previous release, but its stable and rock solid. So you probably think, so whats new ?
For those of you who know the Quake 3 Arena Engine mod, ioquake3, I have good news for you, all the ioquake3 features are ported to rtcwcoop.
For those of you who don’t know what’s ioquake3 is, these are the important features in a nutshell:

  • New sound code to have better sound quality
  • 64bit support
  • built-in voice-over-ip (voip), if you have a headset and the server enables the feature, you can now talk to your coop friends
  • avi video capture of demos, no more rendering thousands of tga files
  • much improved autocompletion of console commands
  • console history (it remembers the commands from your previous sessions)
  • http/ftp downloads, aka faster map downloads
  • and lots of bug and security fixes
  • A completely new (and optional) renderer, which gives you a lot more eyecandy (to enable it, type in the console: /cl_renderer rend2; vid_restart, to disable it: replace rend2 with opengl1 )

One other important change is that we’ve moved all the coop related files from ‘main’ to a folder called ‘coopmain’, this allows you to mix the stock rtcw mp and sp games with coop, you don’t have to copy all the pk3′s to a new place for coop to work.
Downloads:

How to install:
Unzip the downloaded file into your rtcw installation. Make sure that the ‘coopmain’ folder from the zip file is at the same level as the ‘main’ folder from your rtcw installation.
In case you only have the rtcw pk3′s but no existing installation, unzip the downloaded file, and move your rtcw pk3′s inside the ‘main’ folder.
New Cvars and ConsoleCommands ?

can someone give me better instructions on how to run this and install it? I extracted the files in the Return to Castle Wolfenstein folder, but when I run the game, I have no clue how to start or enter a coop game mode :/

by 'running the game' do you mean starting rtcw, or starting rtcwcoop ?

There is an rtcwcoop executable that you need to double click. (make sure you don't extract rtcwcoop in a subfolder of your rtcw folder)

when I click to launch the rtcwcoop it tells me "pak0.pk3" is missing and won't allow it to start

The coop mod does not work under Windows XP? At least we can't play it under WinXP. It runs fine with Windows 7. Any Ideas? Me and my friend want to play this cool mod, but my friend's old PC with Windows XP would die if I install Windows 7 on it.

The video drivers are fine, no need for latest driver updates. This graphics card was manufactured when Jesus was born (Nvidia Vanta). If I update any driver on that old school hardware, the computer pukes itself to death (just kiddin'). The original Return To Castle Wolfenstein is working perfectly and other old games are running well on that PC (THPS2, AvP, AvP2). Except this mod :-( The coop mod's executabe shows a small error window: "Program execution error."

Hey guys. Really nice work on this mod, I've had RTCW for quite awhile now, and as the game was on sale recently a few of my friends got it and I told em about this mod, they were interested and we've been playing it since, trying to complete the game. However, I've got a really odd issue that means I can't fully enjoy nor play the game. On RTCW, I don't have this issue, only on this mod. When I try and aim, and also whilst in the menu my mouse is 'stiff' when I'm trying to make precise movements, do you have any idea how to fix this issue?

do you mean that the sensitivity of the mouse is too low ?

Coop for an old classic game like RTCW???!!! Oh it gets a 10, it's got a few bugs but I'm sure they will fix these later on. A very well done mod , they should update the installer to find my Steam folder for people that bought it there they might be confused where that is in the C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common
