Rise of War: Unternehmen Barbarossa (Current project) is a singleplayer, full conversion, first person shooter modification for Half-Life 2. RoW:UH following a German squad through the Eastern Front of WWII.
Rise of War will incorporate high doses of realism. Players can select as much equipment as they want before the mission, but the more they have, the heavier they are. Ironsights will be needed to see where you're aiming. As you get wounded you will move slower, have vision problems, not be able to hold you weapons steady, and then die.
Players will have to learn your comrades strengths and weaknesses in order to efficiently complete missions. Machine gunners are good against snipers, but bad against mortars; Snipers are good against most infantry, but can be easily killed by vehicles.
Large battles will be designed to be as accurate as possible. A few squads to an entire division may be helping you to complete the mission.
Command points play a large part in the game. Players will be able to use abilities to help win missions at the cost of command points. Points are gained for kills and victories.
RoW is primarily influenced by Hidden & Dangerous 2 and the Call of Duty series.

As Row has been progressing we have allowed a few images to be seen by the public. Here are a few WIP weapon renders. More images are on the way as our models and mappers are hard at work, creating new content. So far production has had nothing but positive advancements.

You guys said that you'll be able to command troops in the mod. How did you accomplish this?
After discussion with a few other modders, and a vote within the team, we've decided to change our production (Once again) to the Eastern Front. You will be playing as a German soldier, fighting your way through many areas not covered by most other WWII games (Like Estonia, Poland, Ukraine, etc.) as well as many other cities in the Soviet Union.
Too bad it's only singleplayer. I would've loved a multiplayer part.
If we were multiplayer we would have too much competition from R&L, plus everyone would compare us to DoD:S. But we may make a multiplayer mode if we have extra time.
Of course Omaha's going to be included.

But remember, the only campaign we're working on right now is Operation Overload. We don't have enough team members to support the creation of the other fronts. If you'd like to join then Email me, but I'm hoping that I can find a group to work on one campaign, while we work on another.

Remember to watch the mod, we're going to release quite a few more updates soon. The B.A.R. is finished, we just haven't posted a picture. The British, Canadians, and Australians will be included in future versions of Rise of War. Currently we are focused on getting the Americans and Germans done. Our first release, RoW: FoN will have only three or four mission. We will release patches that will include more missions, entire campaigns, etc.
and the aussies they made the best traps in ww1 and 2 they would be awsome
