Rise Of The Reds is an expansion mod for Generals: Zero Hour that adds the Russian Federation, European Continental Alliance and is packed with overhauls and changes to the original factions. I enjoy SWR's work. With such a limited beta however it's difficult to give them the full 10, and the lack of content has nowhere near eclipsed their work on Shockwave. I am a patient man though so I'll wait before I give my full account until they have given theirs. This is a very promising mod and I've yet to be disappointed by SWR.
This mod id amazingly well done. It looks as good as it plays. Challenging computer players, well organized tech trees as well as General Power trees. And on top of it all the game is still in progress. I can hardly wait for the next expansion and see what this team has to offer.
Great quality download with content that looks and sounds like it was from the the original developing team.
What I especially like about this mod is the overall art design and the fact that the Manticore tank uses Arnold Schwarzenegger as his voice. When I first started a skirmish and looked through the new ECA units / buildings I was like ''wow'', they did a great job making the factions really different, and I think I found my favorite faction. Even though there's no campaign (yet?), the team also spent a lot of time making up a proper story for this mod / Generals which is why I also salute these guys. This mod is absolutely great and very worth trying.
One of the greatest mods around here. It's adding 2 completely new factions ( I always wanted Europe and Russia in vanilla ), balance is quite good, graphics are updated, so they look fine even on old engine. There is a whole load of new units and general's powers for ZH nations. RotR totally changes old tactics, every side has it's own character and there is also side story for new conflict. However it needs some bug fixes. Great work, i'm waiting for next versions!
Un excelente mod (traido por los mismos del proyecto ShockWave) que transforma espectacularmente el Command and Conquer Generals ZH. Trayendo una novedosa variedad de armas capaz de crear una epica batalla entre las 3 clasicas facciones y 2 nuevas que son: ECA (Alianza Continental Europea por sus siglas en ingles) y una Russia que refleja los antiguos ideales de la Union Sovietica, trayendo algunos recuerdos y guiños al C&C Red Alert. Promete mucho ya que en su primer version ( 1.8 ), nos dejara desarrollar batallas enormes con rasgos unicos segun el mando de la faccion que tomemos. Muy recomendable para jugar en multijugador, siendo este donde se desarrolla su potencial con maximo esplendor ya que la IA del juego es facilmente burlable y metodica. En fin, un mod recomendable para los viejos jugadores del C&C y/o para aquellos que deseen verle otra cara al juego.
An excellent mod (from the creators of the project ShockWave) that dramatically transforms Command and Conquer Generals ZH. Bringing a new variety of weapons capable of creating an epic battle between the 3 classic features and 2 new ones, which are: ECA (European Continental Alliance) and Russia reflecting the old ideals of the Soviet Union, bringing some nods to C & C Red Alert. It promises much, because in its first version (1.8), let us develop huge battles, with unique features that we select according to faction. Highly recommended for multiplayer play and this where it develops its potential peak, because the game's AI is easily burlable and methodical. In short, a mod recommended for those who want to see another side to the game.
Outstanding mod, in my opinion the best mod for generals. It keeps the flavor and lore of the game in tact while still keeping it fresh. The only possible problem is balance, but as long as you change your playstyle for different factions it isn't a problem for human players.
Comrads, this mod is the best one made for Generals Zero Hour! The fact that there will be a European Faction along with the 3 modified vanilla factions and the already great Russian Faction. I love how this mod keeps the game flavor and actually feels like a Generals expansion game rather than a game mod and its not even finished yet! I just started playing this mod (1st mod actually) and I played abunch others already, but this one is my favorite and I am eagerly waiting for version. 2.0 (but do not be like EA and rush the launch, ruining the potential and current quality of the "mod"). There are some things I would suggest to change and fix to make the current features more tasteful and I will list them below, but they do not change my choice of rating the game as the mod is not yet finished.
-airborne transports such as the hunchback and osprey are not able to carry vehicles (not even light vehicles)and if this is fixed, it would be nice to have a Chinese airborne transport capable of carrying vehicles
-on non-ROTR maps, russian AI self destructs
-rewrite and create new skirmish medals to include the new additions provided by the mod.
-GLA palace had one irreplaceable use; it could be garrisoned and serve as a hardy bunker on the front lines, perhaps another structure could fill this roll? Perhaps the tunnel exits could have a 2 man pillbox built into it to make the tunnel exit more effective (currently they are useless).
-more armor for GLA like you did in Shockwave since SW and ROTR "are one in the same".
-World Builder crashes when a terrain height tool is selected.
