Rise of the Reds – or ROTR for short – improves upon the C&C Generals formula while also adding its own distinct elements to it. Most notably, the mod adds two completely new factions, the tank-heavy Russian Federation and the defence-oriented European Continental Alliance. In addition, the three original factions China, USA and GLA have been greatly expanded and redesigned in a variety of ways, with several new units, buildings, powers and abilities to explore and combine in your in-game tactics.

As of 1.85, the ECA R&D Compound will be given a new model with a smaller footprint for easier deployment in confined spaces. It's functionality remains unchanged and you can rest assured that the old model will not go to waste, as it will likely find some new use on a future mission map.

In keeping with the ECA's doctrine of fortifications and mobile defence, the Vehicle Digout is a simple battlefield contraption that can be set up with the help of an Excavator. Once established, it provides additional protection for European Leopards and Gepards.

As always, we would like to remind all of you out there that there will be another stream on this Sunday:

Countdown until the stream starts

It is really nice that R&D Compound's building space has become much smaller.

Probably not. The main reason we put so much effort into the Russian and European buildings is because they are our own, made from our own textures - we might do something else with them in the future after ROTR, whereas China/USA/GLA don't have that future use for us and are perfectly utilitarian as they are for the purpose of this mod.

if we were to overhaul US and Chinese buildings, we're looking at least HALF A YEAR of production. So no, that won't happen.

then why overhaul other buildings? they already have great looking and texture.... as u said they are just taking alot of time from release time and will just make USA and china buildings looks more crap...
i love new lovely textures but you guys are seriously making USA and China textures to feel apart from the mod and game...
why not leave this project after v2?

Maybe that got misinterpreted, but we are not looking into redesigning Chinese/US buildings as it is not even on our agenda on the 'To-Do' list. It's far too much work, and you are in fact correct, we are looking into going somewhere different after 2.0.

US and Chinese buildings have no need to be re-designed or fully re-modelled. Some details (as you did it with the US supply dropzone) and a little amount of retouch and fixes (the ladder in the USA Airfield crosses the fence, as an example of issue) will be enough.

Glorious tank bunkers for Yu... ECA army!
Also, why only Leopard and Gepard tanks?

Because these two are the only ones that are really suited for a static defensive role. The Lynx is a transport vehicle, Pandurs should be used as mobile manoeuvre combat vehicles, Warhounds can did their own impromptu fortification via an ability, Jagdmammuts don't have rotating turrets which would limit their use in a static position and Manticores are too big to fit in there, not to mention resilient enough on their own.

I was gonna ask about the potential future challengers, before I realised they're basically Leos.

Well, i was mostly thinking about dozers - to replace fragile engeneers for automatic repairs, Wotan Arrays - because they benefit greatly from this, and mortar tracks as a nice fast-shooting counterpart to tear-gas throwing mortar pits.

Wouldn't Wotans benefit from it too much, though?

Dugouts for Leopards? Perfect; I can not add that to my base defenses instead of setting them to guard and losing them on the first wave of enemies in Skirmish.
