Rise of the Reds – or ROTR for short – improves upon the C&C Generals formula while also adding its own distinct elements to it. Most notably, the mod adds two completely new factions, the tank-heavy Russian Federation and the defence-oriented European Continental Alliance. In addition, the three original factions China, USA and GLA have been greatly expanded and redesigned in a variety of ways, with several new units, buildings, powers and abilities to explore and combine in your in-game tactics.

Air intake hoods, they're used to block rocks and stuff kicked up from the downdraft being sucked into the engine.

Here's a good pic of the Mi-26 Halo's intake hoods:

Replaces nothing. It's added just so you can try it out before we split the factions to their respective generals.

The Hunchback is lower tier than the hind, so you'll see it early game as opposed to the Hind which is solidly late-game. It's also cheaper and holds more troops than the Hind.

Will Vanilla generals still be playable in 2.0 or will you have to pick a general?

That's probably a handle, the textures a little stretched due to the complexity of the model.

It's actually supposed to be a painted-on eye. This may not come across very well in the render, but the chopper actually has grinning shark teeth painted on its 'chin', as seen on many warplanes. It looks quite cool in-game.

The description says it's a heavy lift heli - can this transport vehicles? I know it's complimentary to the Hind but unless it can lift vehicles it's use is sorta limited. Once the Hind becomes available I don't see much motivation to use this for infantry transport.

I agree, i don't see much use for it if it can't transport vehicles

Reply Good karma Bad karma0 votes

It's actually an infantry-only transport (hence why the description says 'medium-lift' in the very first sentence). Think of it not as a Russkie Chinook but rather a 'mirror version' of the Sea Knight helicopters that the USMC uses.

What makes it useful? It's available earlier than the Hind, cheaper, carries 8 rather than 6 infantry units and let's be real: Hinds are expensive and most people would rather use them for their epic firepower rather than transport.

As for vehicles, this is actually intended by design. ROTR Russia is a steamroller faction: Unstoppable in the late game with great firepower and armour, but lacking in vehicular mobility. If Russia could somehow air-lift tanks - up to and including Golems and Sentinels no less - you'd be taking away one of the very things that make them somewhat vulnerable.

Strange model. But excellent use, i hope it can carry vehicles too.
The chinese need a transport chopper too, will you brig back the Helix or you will make a new model? Also, could you add a gun on the nose of the Han?It looks pretty empty without it

MARS2588 - - 958 comments

We are going to re-include the Helix at some point. You will see it as part of the Red Army General's arsenal in 2.0, perhaps even earlier if we do decide to add it as a temporary vanilla unit. As for the Han, it HAS two giant-sized guns mounted on the sides. There wouldn't be much of a point in adding a third that'd basically be just a pea-shooter under the chin just to make it look more like any other random helicopter for no reason.

Description

Originally conceived as a versatile medium-lift cargo helicopter for the Russian Navy in the late 2030s, the Mil Mi-40, affectionately called the "Hunchback" due to the peculiar shape of its airframe, can serve in a variety of combat roles. When the new helicopter made its first public flight during the World War II victory parade of 2042, General Orlov of the Air-Landing Forces commented that the Hunchback would have made a major difference during the disastrous African conflict in the previous year. A few days later, his Tula Division was the first unit to issue an order for a full squadron of Mi-40s to complement their Hind and Hokum gunships. The VDV's version of the Hunchback is equipped with an armoured cargo container that has enough internal space for up to eight fully equipped infantrymen. In order to provide immediate and decisive fire support to the ground troops after their deployment, this "assault transport" version is also armed with a powerful twin-barrel 23mm auto-cannon and has two weapon-hardpoints that can be loaded with free-falling thermobaric bombs.
