Rise of the Reds – or ROTR for short – improves upon the C&C Generals formula while also adding its own distinct elements to it. Most notably, the mod adds two completely new factions, the tank-heavy Russian Federation and the defence-oriented European Continental Alliance. In addition, the three original factions China, USA and GLA have been greatly expanded and redesigned in a variety of ways, with several new units, buildings, powers and abilities to explore and combine in your in-game tactics.

Nice! Is the vehicle going to be replacing something? Or an exclusives generals power (as part of vehicles drop?) or an entirely new unit for the Russians?

It is an entirely new unit, which will be available at Tier 0 since 1.86. Most likely it is not general-specific.

I wonder what will happen to the BMP-3? The two seem to have very similar functions and abilities. And at the same Tier even...

BMP:
- is cheaper
- is amphibious
- deals more damage to both infantry and vehicles
- is faster
- has 6 transport slots, unlike Grizzly, which has 2

Grizzly can replace BMP in its stealth detection role, because tougher armor allows it to survive longer. Since your tanks aren't fast anyway, Grizzly's lower speed won't be a problem. It also has good resistance to bullets, what allows you to use it against Dushka nests (it can kill the gunner), Quads and in other scenarios where bullet-based weapons are involved.

Maybe because it is sometimes hard to pronounce russian words properly and clearly understand their meaning for non-russian people? Same reason for non-chinese names i think.

Reporting name.
I.e. it was named "Grizzly" by the outsiders, while inside the RF AF it may be simply called BTR-55.

In fact, it has no nickname in Russia, because RF army doesn,t use BTR-T: it was rejected soon after its creation, and now all existing machines are being used only in training.

There is already a BMP - and between the two the designs are pretty much just the turret. This lets the two to be much more distinct ingame.

BMPT actually means Fighting Vehicle for Supporting Tanks (Боевая Машина Поддержки Танков) while BMP = simply Infantry Fighting Vehicle, BTW.

Also, if I remember correctly, "Terminator" is not official machine's name. The official one is "Frame" ("Рамка" in russian), or something like that.

So a troop carrier that can't carry an effective amount of troops, a recon vehicle (when a conscript is inside) that's too conspicuous for reconnaissance, a quasi-tank with tinfoil armor, yet can have enough firepower to raze a city block to dust. It's Russia's version of the Bradly; they even it made just as schizophrenic.

Except its armor well surpasses tinfoil level. Machine guns have absolutely nothing on this.
It's not really recon, just stealth detection. BMP's are too squishy and Conscripts die too easilly.

I believe it's just and equivalent of NATO codenames. Like Mi-24 is called "Hind" by NATO, while Russian name is "Krokodil" (Crocodile). Same for Flankers, Frogfoots etc. But still strange that the AA infantry is still called "Igla", not "SA-#I forgot the number#"
Also, the Russian names are not that much of a pronouncing problem. Arma 3 didn't have much problems with "Barsuks" and "Kamyshs" for that OPFOR faction. (I think they were Arabs or something like that)

Geez, that's not what I meant.
Everything except Igla and Buratino is called by it's NATO classification.
Igla and Buratino are the only unit/weapon the somehow is called by it's original name. (excluding production only names like MSTA-S, AK-74 and so on)
By your logic it would be appropriate to call "Frogfoot" "Grach" for example.

One of the Hind's select quotes in-game is "Crocodile standing by."

My guess is the Grizzly will call itself by its original Russian name/number when speaking, thus covering both bases.

It looks so odd though, that they severly reduced the troop compartment on this APC. Granted I do get it because of cost reduction etc. , but still it just looks odd.

By the way how much does one of these units cost ingame?

Description

By 2049, the Russian Ground Forces had suffered severe casualties in its fleet of armored vehicles. In order to halt the relentless Euro/American advance into Germany, Russia retrofitted old T-55 tanks and transformed them into cheap armored personell carriers called the BTR-55 Grizzly. The Grizzly sports a 30 mm auto-cannon that can be further supplemented with a Kornet anti-tank missile once Assault Armaments has been unlocked, however the compressed space of the T-55 means the Grizzly can only transport two passengers.
