Rise of the Reds – or ROTR for short – improves upon the C&C Generals formula while also adding its own distinct elements to it. Most notably, the mod adds two completely new factions, the tank-heavy Russian Federation and the defence-oriented European Continental Alliance. In addition, the three original factions China, USA and GLA have been greatly expanded and redesigned in a variety of ways, with several new units, buildings, powers and abilities to explore and combine in your in-game tactics.

Less arty and more of a giant "possibly IEC" nuclear powered electro magnetic anti everything gun to be honest :P

Personally I find the design of rail guns to be flawed and rather unreliable for combat due to the extremely short lifespan of its internal components ... even with the most advanced materials known to mankind you could only get off about 3 shots before the armature disintegrates :/

This is why I personally prefer coil "Gauss" guns as their design is far more durable.

Regardless tho its a cool looking model.

Of course, this was originally a purely civilian design that happened to get the 'ploughshares to swords' treatment.
Takes less time to make a bomb fit the payload of a civilian satellite launcher than to build a dedicated piece of military equipment to do a similar job.
And from what I've gathered, railguns are more efficient as far as power requirements are concerned. General Atomics plans of starting production of a commercial railgun in 2019, according to the wiki.

I'm guessing that even with the thing falling apart in a matter of shots and other issues, a railgun would still be cheaper than a rocket in a lot of cases.

Also worth noting: Both the Pandora and Tremor are most probably suborbital. Only Pandora uses nuclear warheads. A chemical explosive is most probably out of the question because the thing needs a whole lot of maintenance for a single shot. Ergo: Nukes!

But coilguns are so hideously inefficient from a power consumption standpoint that even by 2050 I doubt that there would be operational coilguns (aka; Gauss Weapons) unless someone comes up with a room-temperature superconducting material. Even though railguns are inefficient and potentially have an extremely short "barrel" life they are still far closer to to being operational military weapons (at least on naval warships) but material science is advancing all the time so maybe by the mid 21st century both types of weapons would become feasible and used for different purposes, perhaps by using Carbon Nanotubes. I do however overall favor Gauss weapons over Rail guns (especially considering that Depleted Uranium shells would not work on railguns due to the poor electrical conductive properties of DU) but sadly as of this moment laser based weapons are probably more feasible than Coilguns and there are already prototype Railguns but we'll be far more likely to see Electrothermal-chemical (or ETC) cannons on tanks long before Railguns.

Wait till I get my patent for my rotary Tesla coil hybrid mate ill show my crazy *** idea on the matter xD We may not have a room temperature super conductor small enough "yet" but im pretty dam sure I figured out a way to generate enough electrical power to overcome that lil problem to some degree.

Actually, its due to railguns problem with lifespan that ISN'T going to be solved anytime soon is the reason why coilguns is going to get the bulk of the EMW (Electro-Magnetic Weapon) budget and its not a problem of power consumption but computer reaction time, and when a computer's reaction time isn't good enough energy efficiency suffers greatly.

In my fic "Aaron Fox's World War III" (which I want to make into a game btw) the main tank weapon is a coilgun that uses a dense metal round sheathed in a high-intensity high-temperature magneto-conductive heat shield (then again when the main gun of an American tank's 150mm (technically 155mm, the caliber in the fic now goes by round size, not barrel size) goes 10km/s (max rating), you better bet your *** that the round is sheathed in such a material). A 20kilo round going at 10km/s has the explosive power of 222 tons of TNT... and this isn't the most powerful weapon in the tank arsenal... and that arsenal would make Abigail Hammer from Hammer's Slammers fame drool.

Loving the part about the remains of the crew inside.
Gives a creepy sense of atmosphere of how ugly war can be and gives the overall colorful and kinda cute "little bit comic" look a dark shade of realism.

Description

One of the most feared albeit decisive weapons deployed in the Russo-European War, the Pandora is a military refit of a European Space Agency payload delivery mechanism that used an electromagnetic railgun to fire small satellites and Solaris maintenance equipment into orbit. By the time Russian forces found themselves at the verge of victory in southern France, ECA high command made a controversial decision to avert its defeat: Despite the official ban on neutron weapons that had been imposed on behalf of China after the Global War on Terror, the European nuclear powers Britain and France have modified some of their regular nuclear weapons into so-called 'enhanced radiation warheads'. Whilst just as devastating as any other tactical nuclear weapon, these neutron bombs are designed to emit an extreme magnitude of radiation during the explosion which is strong enough to penetrate the armour of even the most heavily protected vehicles, leaving them intact for capture by anyone willing and desperate enough to stomach the sight of what remains inside after the crew members have succumbed to the neutrons. The Pandora is capable of launching these terrifying warheads over long distances, letting them detonate right upon impact or upon delayed proximity activation after they have hit the ground.
