Rise of the Reds – or ROTR for short – improves upon the C&C Generals formula while also adding its own distinct elements to it. Most notably, the mod adds two completely new factions, the tank-heavy Russian Federation and the defence-oriented European Continental Alliance. In addition, the three original factions China, USA and GLA have been greatly expanded and redesigned in a variety of ways, with several new units, buildings, powers and abilities to explore and combine in your in-game tactics.

How about the Dutch? My li'l brother quite likes Rise of the Reds, but there is something missing. THIS to be exact!

Are you kidding, or you simply don't understand what he's asking ? He's not asking for those factions to show up but units from them. There won't be individual nations added like that, that's not how ROTR works. The dutch already have: Rotr.swr-productions.com along with some other contributions.

I just couldn't resist joking around about it! CNC Holland is a good mod and I love the humour in it. But of course that is not what Rise of the Reds is about.

Oh wow, and his comment got buried just because he asked a question!

To anwser I am not 100% sure, but I think there will be a new freezeing death animation, since Duke Nukem's cryogun has it.

"Oh wow, and his comment got buried just because he asked a question!"

It was probably because of the comparison to MO. =P
We have some strong 'fanboys' here. They do not allow such blasphemy!
"Can't mention anything other than ROTR, because all things ROTR."

Manticore protocol: Gives you the Manticore tank, the Anvil and the upgrades for your regular tanks
Pandora protocol: Gives you the Pandora cannon, the Fenris and modifies your support powers
Venom Protocol: Gives you the two Venom variants, Jumpjet infantry and boosts your regular infantry.

The concept of cryo tech by allied nations has been around since ra3, most notably their cryo copter and cryo legionaire units.

Have a cold one.
Lets put this one on ice.
Freeze!
Ice to meet you! I'm surprised no one's made any yet, so I thought I'd break the ice (alright, last one to round them out at five).

There, 5 puns for you all.

Correct me if i am wrong, but is the ECA the only faction that can kill the crew of enemy vehicles to then capture them? Why?
Because China no longer has the neutron warheads, and Jarmen Kel can no longer snipe the pilots of vehicles...

Reply Good karma Bad karma+2 votes
Neo3602
Neo3602

Correct me if I'm wrong, but from what I understand SWR wants to limit the amount of stuff that can kill the pilots of vehicles because units that use a code workaround that referred to as "bike logic" to use their abilities(like the crusader tank and pandur) get instantly killed if they get his with a weapon that kill the pilots.

It's probably because defenses by default don't detect Jarmen Kel and he could just sit in a base and snipe pilots. If you think about it the ability that lets him one shot any aircraft is pretty ridiculous to make up for it. You can use it on a raptor (Did this once) And it chased the raptor until it dropped it's payload and didn't hit it until it circled to land. xD

Awesome design and lore for the most part, but...

"Scandinavian scientists even explored the idea of using this remarkable technology to revert the effects of global warming by restoring the Arctic ice."

*Rolls eyes*

But whatever. It's fiction, I can handle stuff like that, I suppose.

Think what you will about climate change, but it's quite apparent that RL governments and institutions are making decisions based on the notion that it exists, whether true or not, caused by human influence or not. As such, institutions in the fictional reality of our setting would so as well. Fiction imitates reality, including the parts that may or may not be based on misconceptions.

Hi guys...No Fernis and I could not find the eponymous protocol. Love the faction though. They are the best in the entire game.

Description

Whilst the United States make extensive use of lasers as point defense and anti-aircraft weapons, the nations of Europe have concentrated their research efforts on the civilian utilities of the technology. One of their most promising discoveries was the possibility of using special frequency lasers to slow the motion of atoms to a near standstill, resulting in a focused freezing effect. Ideally, the technology could be used as a more eco-friendly alternative to bulky cooling machinery and aggressive chemicals. A team of Scandinavian scientists even explored the idea of using this remarkable technology to revert the effects of global warming by restoring the Arctic ice. Unfortunately, these so-called 'cryo lasers' also presented a considerable destructive potential which was exploited during the final phase of the Russo-European War: Named after a monstrous wolf from Norse mythology, the Fenris is an elaborate modification of a conventional Lynx APC which has been outfitted with a freezing laser that proved extremely lethal against enemy infantry and even vehicles which not only take damage but also end up immobilised due to deformed machinery and severly reduced crew performance after prolonged cooling. The Fenris can also fire a high energy shot which freezes the vehicle to the point where parts of its armour become so brittle that even its own idle engine vibrations or weapon recoil are enough to shatter it open, thus directly exposing the crew to the freezing ray, killing them instantly and leaving the vehicle empty for recovery. Unlike the dreaded Pandora cannon, the Fenris can be deployed in numbers upon choosing the eponymous protocol, but commanders are advised to treat their expensive and fragile technology with utmost care.
