Rise of the Reds – or ROTR for short – improves upon the C&C Generals formula while also adding its own distinct elements to it. Most notably, the mod adds two completely new factions, the tank-heavy Russian Federation and the defence-oriented European Continental Alliance. In addition, the three original factions China, USA and GLA have been greatly expanded and redesigned in a variety of ways, with several new units, buildings, powers and abilities to explore and combine in your in-game tactics.

Thanks for the nice comments guys - they're much appreciated and are what keeps the dev team going.
Also note that the machine-gun on the top isn't just there for show; this is a special feature you'll find on a few ECA vehicles. It's able to be manned by an infantry unit, allowing a 'garrisoned' Jagdmammut or Claymore (or several other types of vehicle as well) to be able to fight off infantry threats it normally wouldn't have a counter to.

i think the guns need to be moved bak on the turret a bit more, too.

i mean i understand why its attatched to the chassis because of recoil but they need to be moved back a bit.

There's not much to give it scale, but the Jagdmammut is by no means small. It is however of a fairly conservative design (with the sloped sides et cetera) that doesn't make it bulk out; rather they can make it look smaller than it actually is (handy IRL for keeping a low profile). Its wheelbase is longer than a Kodiak and it's considerably broader.

Typical of history's tank destroyers, the mounted guns do not swivel on a turret. Flanking should be easy and destruction quick depending on the amount of armor.

Very beautiful model!

This thing's armor probably won't be as tough as the Sentinel's, but it does massive damage to tanks. Stats aren't in yet, but I think it'll be a close call if they went head-to-head.

If I pay so much money for a Sentinel tank, it should be the most powerful -land unit- in the game (since it is very slow and clumsy). Having ECA only the best for itself. Should the Sentinel tank be more powerful than Jagdmammuth and Manticore tank, that will make things much better. And please put the railgun upgrade on the beast, otherwise it will kill the fun.

Yeah, no. The jadgmammut isn't a mutirole unit like the ovie; it's meant to kill vehicles and that's pretty much it. (It will likely be ineffective verses buildings).

As I said earlier, you can man the machine-gun with a separate infantry unit, but it'll only shoot at ground targets.

just to put my 2 cents in....

the golem tank is a real tank.... if i remember right its from the 50's or 60's. it was made in case of nuclear war. but didnt go in to mass prodution.

oh i might add. I like this tank and i do think (the parts thats been revieled)that this tank. could be a real tank (take forever to build) but still...

i say IMO Grate job. will look forward to using them.

Actually, I'm pretty sure the main purpose of Objekt 279 (the tank the Golem was based on) was to have increased cross-country capability and be able to cross soft terrain, like swamps, mud and marshes. It was never intended as a post-nuclear war tank.

ECA hasn't been implemented yet man. And the tank is fine, tank destroyers seem to be always have fixed gun positions, it makes it hard for the tank

CommanderJRB Author

cHr0n0sPh3r3 is right; please check the release notes of 1.2. It's a beta release that contains Russia and enhanced versions of China and the USA. It was originally intended to include the enhanced GLA as well, but it was decided to release it sooner rather than later and so the GLA didn't make the cut. The ECA and GLA will arrive together in a later version sometime between 1.5 (the next planned release) and 2.0. Same with the Halo for Russia; it's a new addition to the side which isn't in the current public beta. After all, we wouldn't be doing media updates on released units, now would we?

It's basically a tank destroyer. Is it slow? Has week armor? Or just another Marauder tank like unit?

Reply Good karma Bad karma+1 vote
CommanderJRB Author
CommanderJRB - - 754 comments

It's slow alright, and slow to turn, but it has very strong armour, a long range, and powerful guns. It's a totally defensive unit, but a very good one.

Description

This German-designed heavy tank destroyer is based on a series of experimental vehicles trialled by the German and Swedish armed forces during the last century. The design was revived due to recent Russian and Chinese advances in anti-missile technology, which threatened to render heavy anti-tank missiles ineffective. These heavy anti-tank missiles had previously been the mainstay of German tank-destroying forces. The monstrous new vehicle was met with some scepticism, particularly from the armour community where it was considered anachronistic and expensive. Pressure from General Wolfgang's mechanised infantry formations in the German Army, who now felt vulnerable with the diminished potency of their anti-tank missiles, ensured funding was secured. It was given the German designation 'Jagdmammut' - which literally translates into English as 'hunting mammoth'.
The vehicle was issued to the Wolfgang's forces to replace their missile-armed tank destroyers and support their nimble infantry fighting vehicles in the late 2020s. This deployment was to prove fortuitous in future when the Jagdmammut's ability to hold ground against almost insurmountable numbers of enemy fighting vehicles would serve it well. In action the Jagdmammut's gunners soon found that the combination of the excellent optical systems and the powerful guns allowed them to outrange any other tank being fielded at that time, allowing them to destroy bewildered enemy vehicles with impunity before they could even return fire.
