Rise of the Reds – or ROTR for short – improves upon the C&C Generals formula while also adding its own distinct elements to it. Most notably, the mod adds two completely new factions, the tank-heavy Russian Federation and the defence-oriented European Continental Alliance. In addition, the three original factions China, USA and GLA have been greatly expanded and redesigned in a variety of ways, with several new units, buildings, powers and abilities to explore and combine in your in-game tactics.
The members of the 1st SFOD-D, commonly known as Delta Force, are among the most elite soldiers in the United States military. As the most secretive and well-trained special forces unit of the US Army, the Deltas have achieved an unparalleled degree of mastery in the use of countless weapons. Their heavy gunners serve as fire support specialists and wield a combination of weapons that enables them to deal with any sort of threat: Their primary armament is the Mk.48 Mod 3, a machine gun that spews out lethal 7.62mm rounds at an amazing rate of fire, allowing the Operators to rip through infantry, light vehicles and even low flying aircraft with ease. In addition, they carry a lightweight 60mm commando mortar whose advanced precision guided shells make up for their lack of explosive punch through nigh-pinpoint accuracy. As of Version 1.85, Delta Force Operators will replace the generic Missile Defenders that are currently part of the Paradrop General Power. As of 2.0, they will be available as an exclusive trainable unit of General Thorn.
sweeeet i love this sort of unit
please put these in a faction that has little birds, humvees, black hawks and rangers so i can FINALLY play black hawk down battles (p.s that would make a good map ;) )
they will. (except for the rangers)
"Just another day at the office."
(I wonder if people will downvote this comment...)
Wee special paradropped units! :D
Yeah, 'cos VDV isn't enough :)
(no sarcasm)
Actually, my comment was more along the lines of "Yay, a replacement for the boring(ish) standard infantry you can just train and Osprey* into place anyway!"
*Yes, yes, it's harder to shoot down but you're still not going to try and toss it in line of sight anyway.
Yeah, i agree with you about the "same" ranger and missile defender for the Paradrop General Power. I hope SWR team gonna change that like they did in SW (HAHO/HALO ranger from Air Force General)
yesssssssssssss
So, we have ECA grenadiers, chinese HMG team and recoilless riffle team, now USA mortar trooper. Wonder what will the rest get...
Wait
Rangers - Elite
SEALs - Elite
Green Berets - Elite
Delta - Elite
Does US army has any regular soldiers? :D
Not in this game
I think Missile Defenders they are.
This is mostly intentional since the US are still supposed to be the faction with the most cost efficient units, i.e. they're economical, quick to produce and have solid, well-rounded stats across the board. As such, an 'elite' theme seems the most appropriate for them, given their in-game tactics.
Story-wise, the US have also adopted a 'homeland first' sort of policy, meaning that overseas deployments outside the American continent are now reserved to the most elite, rapidly deployable units to reduce costs. The actual American homeland would still be protected by the bulk of the Army and the National Guard who would also operate Paladins (AKA M1A4s) as MBTs whereas the Crusader II is specifically designed as a lightweight expeditionary tank. Naturally, there's only so much you can represent in-game, but you can still roleplay this sort of stuff with your imagination.
PS: Out of all these elite infantry units, GBs, Deltas and SEALs will eventually be exclusive to Thorn because he's -all- about special forces. As for the Missile Defenders, they could either be Army or Marine regulars or they could simply be AT specialists belonging to the Rangers or GBs without being explicitely identified as such; again, room for your imagination :)
So basic Rifle Infantry in 2.0 For US will be kinda like this? :
Griffon - Rangers (Rapid deployment better delivered by Air just like VDV?)
Thorn - Some Spec ops operatives + Delta GBs and SEAL
Bradley - Marines maybe (He's got Branch 'Marine Corps')
:D
I hope the Green Berets have the HL Opposing Force Marine voices dat would be cool
(just like SW but you know now GBs)

Both Bradley and Griffon will be using the standard Rangers while Thorn replaces them with GBs. Now, I now that Bradley being a Marine makes it inappropriate for him to have Rangers, but this is one of those instances where faction design takes priority over story fluff. We have a design rule which states that two Generals have to share the same standard unit of a certain role (e.g. rifle infantry, main battle tank) while one can have a unique unit in that spot. Giving different rifle units to all three US Generals would be a precedent and right now, there's not much of a way to make a third unit of that type sufficiently distinct.
make a super infantry that both is stealth and can detect stealth, dodges most attacks it takes and has a super damaging weapon that kills infantry in one hit, and can call its own personal helli to transport it across the map.
Just kidding, i got your point :P
The details put on that Mk. 48 LMG makes me wanna squirm in my seat :D great job SWR!
Are these guys garrison-able? Can you put them into a building, or they are on the mercy of the bullets?
