Each faction will include new Generals with different units, structures and abilities to be pinned against each other in this explosive conflict. will this gun be a bit more powerfull than the old one? it seemed to me it had the same "overwhelming" firepower like an gla-rebel...

I agree with that. This drone gun is way overpowered. I actually think it could do better to loose its weapon and get some greater range. Or hinder its damage by giving it limited ammo and forcing it to recharge, like the twinfang.

Yeah really, does it still need an upgrade for a gun?
Can we expect to see more new units of old factions? If all they've got is just improved textures of old ones, I apprehend they will automaticaly become less interesting to play than for ECA and Russia. I only hope that at least they will save some additions from SW.

I'm expect a rocket launcher weapon for this one. I seen this mech in Future Weapon, which is a documentary and a military show, and they said they have other types of weaponry such as rocket, sniper and machine gun.

We'll see what can it be done for U.S. ^_^

Armour General in SW already has rocket drone, but will they add it in ROTR is a big question.

It's not a rocket, it's a small tank gun.

Also, I'm pretty sure ROTR will be their own mod and the SW team is helping them accomplish that. They don't want to make 'Shockwave with Russians and Euros'.

Not really, SWR Productions do both the mods, ShW and ROTR, as well as Wargames ZH and Generals Classic for ZH.

As far as I know there will be no rocket variant, as of yet.

The gun does spin, if I recall correctly.

I wouldn't agree on a Rocket Variant for this unit. As its sole purpose is a Scout not a Stealthy Tank Hunter or something...

It doesn't need heavy weaponry, it'll be better to increase his scout range and maybe to add him some special abilities. (something like in GLA radar for example).

I don't see why a scouting unit would need such heavy armament.

Something like an M249 attached to the frame instead of the gatling would make it look more appealing IMO.

But personally, I think it'd be more useful unarmed as a sort of enhanced Radar Van unit. Maybe with Mine disposal capabilities.

I wish they had a separate upgrades of weapons for sentry drone... I think it's not balance... and I don't think the U.S. army would be using Gatling gun in the field. Gatling weapon is used in Navy as AA and Anti-Missile weapon.

In ROTR not all is like in reality. Russian Kashtan for example also is only used in navy but here it can be placed on a ground. In reality it can even shoot down AT shells of 2 metres in length with it's rockets but here it shoot ground targets only with sub machine guns. It is so I think to give each faction 2 kinds of turrets: one can shoot infantry and other is AT.

Those things take time to make. Not that much time, but time none the less. We are currently busy prepping 1.5 for public release, so we'd rather concentrate on that than produce a render of a unit you've already seen.

There are several different drones in Shockwave, the idea was to recreate the model of the drone, not the unit's function ;) Interesting picture none the less.

It's only a slightly updated model, not new model. So yes, we probably could've done better, but wouldn't you rather have us working on other things (Like new EU and GLA units)?

Description

The Sentry Drone comes from a long line of failed prototypes. Billions of dollars were pumped into the development of the perfect scout. The first prototypes produced used to be as expensive as a tank and used to break down often. The second line were cheaper, however they had to be remote controlled by somebody within a hundred miles. The third and final version was cheaper, was capable of accomplishing its mission even without supervision and could operate for over a week without maintenance. Decades have passed, the model we see today is the newest used by US ground operations with electronics and armor more up to date with today’s available technology.
