Rise of the Reds – or ROTR for short – improves upon the C&C Generals formula while also adding its own distinct elements to it. Most notably, the mod adds two completely new factions, the tank-heavy Russian Federation and the defence-oriented European Continental Alliance. In addition, the three original factions China, USA and GLA have been greatly expanded and redesigned in a variety of ways, with several new units, buildings, powers and abilities to explore and combine in your in-game tactics.

Nit: If it's not inside a jet, it's called a "Gas turbine."

actually it's always called a gas turbine. (and if it has a fan it's mostly called a turbofan (high or low by-pass depending on ratios)) jet engine is trivial name referring to the jet of air that blasts out of the exhaust of a gas turbine. and from that the nickname jet that is used for airplanes that use gas-turbine engines derived.

i know this because i am a student aircraft technics in the netherlands

What is with the crosshairs-like incomplete rectangles by the gun?

That's a design element that we borrowed as a reference to the M1 Abrams, which had these rectangles painted on in RL as a means of friend/foe identification during the Gulf War.

Description is incomplete. Also, the chassis and turret look more like the Paladin Artillery than an Abrams.

ModDB character limit. You can read the full description once the actual update goes up. This new Paladin is actually the literal successor of the M1 fleet; the description merely explains how the Abrams evolved over the decades and how this thing replaces it as an all-new design.

I think he is referring to the overall design - the back mounted turret with a small size compared to the gun size makes this design more artillery fitting than a combat tank.

I don't think it looks like the Paladin artillery, but I personally think the chassis looks a bit strange... Maybe the back end of the chassis could be made bulkier or extend its length then have the exhaust/engine larger to make it look more like the Abrams IRL. I don't really know exactly how to describe it but for visual reference, the chassis of the new Acolyte tank looks about what I'm thinking of...

Looks like it has a machine gun next to the main cannon.

Almost all of them do. You just don't get to see it due to a mix of engine woes and gameplay uselessness.

Looks nice but personally I think the 3 original factions should get a camo skin like the ECA and Russians do on their vehicles. They all look so boring compared to the paint jobs the new factions sport. So much so that I don't even use the old factions anymore and just play ECA and Russia against each other. :(

If we gave them a camo texture, we might as well toss out all the retro-1950s stuff from the Chinese, because a change like this would completely re-invent their visual appearance, which we'd prefer to keep intact based on the original game.

Besides, the US looks have always been a kind of advanced "clean" look. The GLA are GLA, they will always be the lords of scrap. China admittedly doesn't have such an easy explanation, their focus being mass production and quantity over quality. I guess this strategem leads to a smaller dedication to the cosmetics of their vehicles.

Developers, you know, all of this is really good n cool, but would you upload some of the navy concepts?Since this will be the furst official navy buildable by factions, I believe that quite a lot of people would be real interested to see.

Description

"This fearsome beast is the brand new Paladin II battle tank. Formally designated as the M10, it has only recently been introduced in the US Marine Corps. The M one-zero is the official successor to the M1 series of tanks, which began its life as the M1A1 Abrams back in the good old 1980s. Designed during a period when NATO expected a massive Soviet ground invasion in West Germany, the tank incorporated a 120mm smoothbore cannon, heavy composite armour and a jet engine. The Abrams proved its worth during Operation Desert Storm and was further upgraded into the M1A2 during the 1990s. After the turn of the millennium, American military planners reacted to the geopolitical changes and ditched the hard-hitting territorial defence doctrine of the Cold War in favour of rapid deployability around the globe. This resulted in the development of the M4A1 Crusader tank, which was designed to be much lighter and more economical while the Abrams itself was upgraded to A3 status, which included the SEP upgrade, improved networking capabilities and a new powerplant. When the War On Terror went Global, a small number of M1s where further modified with an experimental anti-missile point defence laser, an improved high-velocity cannon that was compatible with the new Ramjet Assisted Penetrator round and an AI suite that allowed the tank to be controlled by just a single crewman. This variant was so vastly different and superior to all previous iterations that it was designated as the M1A4 Paladin. After the end of the war, the bulk of the armed forces was restricted to the North American mainland while the entire M4 fleet was sold to allied countries. In an effort to reduce the overburdening upkeep costs, the Marines as well as the most elite elements of the other branches where organised into compact but extremely powerful task forces for global interventions, which would rely on the new M5A1 Crusader II for quick, cost-efficient deployments in our areas of interest while the Abrams
