Rise of the Reds – or ROTR for short – improves upon the C&C Generals formula while also adding its own distinct elements to it. Most notably, the mod adds two completely new factions, the tank-heavy Russian Federation and the defence-oriented European Continental Alliance. In addition, the three original factions China, USA and GLA have been greatly expanded and redesigned in a variety of ways, with several new units, buildings, powers and abilities to explore and combine in your in-game tactics.
Throughout the entire Global War on Terror, the Firebase has been the core defensive element of any American military installation, ranging from small isolated outposts to fortified headquarters. But the lackluster accuracy of the decades-old 155mm howitzers became more and more of a problem, especially in urban and mountainous areas where the terrain is treacherous and attackers would often shift locations too quickly for the cumbersome guns to provide accurate fire solutions. Whereas many elements of the US military have phased them out in favour of more accurate missile-based systems, General Thorn whose tactics still employ small forward operational outposts built around Firebases, has recently persuaded the DOD to upgrade them with an entirely new gun-system that allows for greater accuracy and better target acquisition.
the upgrade should be named "excalibur high accuracy artillery shell". if you've watched future weapons then you've probably come across that episode where mac shows us an artillery shell that can take a detour to its target, much like a guided shell.

It's just an upgrade.
Basically, when you build a firebase, it comes with a crappy cannon, and then you get to upgrade it. As opposed to now, which is you build a pile of sandbags and concrete and then you put a gun on it. The latter just seemed kinda silly and needed improvement.

Nice, but... why so many med packs? Boxes full of ammo would fit more.
They are there to show that the firebase can heal infantry that are garrisoned inside it.
You can't heal yourself with shells now can you? :P
like he said,maybe med packes AND ammo packes...
Perhaps a new loading animation would be nice? Such as an autoloader or the gun being loaded while pointing up? Well the latter would be counter-intuitive but still, since aesthetic improvement is the goal here...?

not necessary scince this will be the only firebase, it only gets an upgrade.
also, are other US generals goint to get only the protector as a defense structure? (not something i would like) or will they get another defense exclusive for each?
