Yes, good idea, obviously.

I do feel however that ambient sound should be ambient sound, and not foreground sound, in this video it sounded very....loud. Of course this might be just for demonstration purposes, but still, in the off chance that it isn't, felt the need to point it out.

And yes, great idea, keep this up, blablabla same as usual.

Down voted by accident. I think this is a great idea.

Im not sure if it would work tbh. The sound files have to be on a relatively short loop so music is out of the question. Ambient rancor/Hutt/bounty hunter chatter could be a possibility though

Beautiful. Also props for using the original Star Wars font and faded Aurebesh text in the video. It's the little things...

Will infantry do random chatter? When you give orders they speak out loud, but it would be nice if they talked when in combat. Something like:

Now play that alongside with these 3 at the same time:

I thought it was awesome. I think random ''Taking hits'' ''Need support'' ''trooper is down'' ''take cover!'' It would be cool if you heard that when the camera is close enough. Would be incredible in cinematic mode. Death troopers chatter could be useful here too.

They do this in Company of Heroes and it works very well. Ive already implemented this to some extent but the way audio queues are set up in EaW, it will never sound as natural or organic as it does in the other game. Sfx events are not randomly triggered but are in response to specific things...so X happens and then every unit says their line. Its rather comical. The only instance where this kind of works is when targeted enemy is near death. So ive added lines like "almost got em", "finish them off", etc. Its better than nothing...

Oh true, coh does it great. Happy to hear that you can implement that in some way. Units could say a line depending on their HP, and the HP of the enemy they are attacking. For instance, when 1/2 they could say meeefiic, weve lost one! And when almost dead: we need support now! May day may day! Etc now for the attacking units you already have it. The only thing I am not sure is if you could separate the lines you hear according to if the units are ally or foe, it would be weird or comical as you said if units randomly said any line.

Yeah, what you describe is basically the setup. Units will exclaim things as they or their target enemy is low on health but that's about all that's possible.

I don't think on specific props but there will be a better general ambiance for urban settings. The noise is so dense in the city that I don't feel having specific props with sfx is necessary.

Wonderful ! Just wondeful. I just hope the game will be stable with the mod.. and that we will not meet lags.

So far there is only lag when playing on forested maps. The new tree props are quite a bit more detailed than the original. However, not as many trees are needed with the new props for forests to feel full so I plan to go through the original maps and optimize them to eliminate the slight lag that is currently present.

That said, the mod is intended for higher end computers. You wont need top of the line, per se... But something with modern hardware at least.

Description

Rise of the Mandalorians will feature props that have ambient audio in order that levels feel more "alive" and immersive. The audio in this video is increased in volume to demonstrate more effectively the new effect but will be subtler in the actual mod. Additionally, please be aware that the audio is also compressed a bit in this video as a result of the recorder I was using and therefore might sound lower quality than intended.
