Looks like this mod is going to be explosive !!!

mind the bad pun, I have coming up with a lot recently

but awesome work as per usual. But a Question, will the normal troops escort them in squads like in the picture or will they be separate ?

The picture was just a map editor quickie... But the end result will include generic escorts. Squads will be comprised of two Plex units plus one generic soldier for defense.

The logic here is pretty straightforward but it also works nicely with the new infantry turret riggs because I've designed all heavy-ordinance troops to not be able to fire on the run (balance issues but also just realism...a heavy gun is harder to aim, etc). Including one regular soldier in the mix allows the squad to have some offensive/defensive capability while moving. Granted, it isn't much...but it's better than nothing and it does just look nicer than a bunch of units moving around, taking shots but not firing back.

Hopefully! Got a few more things I want to add but its mostly complete and I feel like ground combat is a lot more fun than it used to be.

You are a legend! Super stoked to blast some republic troopers with the might of my Imperial Stormtroopers!

And then kill both with the Mandolorians :D

This is...quite nice. Unlike that tree they're in front of. Of course...that tree could have digital camo...That's it. It's a camo'd tree.

Also, showing us all of these images...it's not making the wait any easier, that's for sure.

If AAA studios spent more time perfecting their current games, we would have some really, really nice looking (and nearly bug-free) games.

Unfortunately almost all game companies that have AAA releases are owned by or bound to a publisher (like EA, Microsoft, etc) and those publishing companies are comprised of businessmen...not game developers. Businessmen are motivated by profit and analytics...which is necessary if you ever want to make money with your art. However, because the businessmen are usually the ones who own the company and not the artist...they get the final say and they almost always "say" money first, art second. They know that striking a good balance between art and profit...means less profit and since they aren't artists themselves, they don't really get it or see the merit of making good art, for the sake of good art.

This is why games like Call of Duty are formulaic and repetitive with every release...and why the industry has become notorious for the dreaded release-day DLC disaster. Those things all equal lots of profit and require minimal art...because the DLC is art that should have been in the game already. But can we blame them? Really, it's the consumer that dictates the entire industry...they ARE the analytics and the profit. Yet people keep buying half-baked games and seem to be ok getting that DLC too. God knows why...

This is why I love modding so much though. It's pure art! You don't need a publisher and you aren't driven by profit...so there's never the temptation to release something that isn't done right or that is only half-baked. It's a good place to be :)

This is true. Won't stop me from complaining about it, but it's still true.

My guess about consumers still buying the things they keep complaining about...I'd say it's probably something like "Well, I got the game, might as well get the DLC" or "Well, I liked the first four games even though they were all the same, so I'll like this one".

Of course, it could be a sort of loyalty thing. "I've got everything else this company has made. Might as well get this one".

I think it's just effective marketing, really. Think about it... Most modern games really push the multiplayer and the social aspect. Well, when the new game comes out and it's multiplayer servers are spun up...eventually the old ones go down and you are FORCED to get the new game if you want to continue to enjoy the multiplayer.

"so there's never the temptation to release something that isn't done right or that is only half-baked."

Depends on the modders' mindsets. I'm one of the 'keep releasing stuff from time to time to avoid being mislabeled as dead' kind of guys myself. :P

(But then, I'm not known for my artistic skills, being almost exclusively code-oriented.)

Yeah, lots of people are convinced my Halo mod is dead even though I've stated multiple times that I plan to work on it again once RotM is finished. I guess the difference is that I just don't care what they are convinced of... Lol. I know what my plans are and I've communicated them many times... If people won't listen than oh well.

Description

Vanguard Troopers are combat specialists who train extensively in the use of heavy weapons and ordinance. Specifically, they are soldiers who have a finesse for taking down enemy vehicles and defensive structures. A favored weapon of the Vanguard corp is the PLX2-M missile system.

While Vanguard Troopers are vulnerable on their own, they make excellent anti-vehicle units when defended by friendly armor or if used in a hit-and-run style attack.

In addition to the human-species seen here, the Vanguard squads in RotM will have Wookie and Sullustan soldiers. Screenshots of those soon.
