Its significance in shaping the galaxy can't be denied, that's for sure.

Isn't it spelled Mon Calamari, with an "a", instead of Calimari? Anyway, outstanding textures, as great as the rest of the mod. Thanks a lot for your dedication!

I always preferred 'Mon Calamari' to 'Dac'. As silly as the alternative sounds, 'Dac' just seems so generic.

I like it because single syllable names aren't as common in space opera. Its an unusual name from an unusual people.

The Rebel Scum won't know what hit them when legions upon legions of Stormtroopers descend upon them like angry hornets. The people of Dac will pay for their treasonous actions against the Empire since the dawn of the Rebellion.

The tighter your grip Imperial, the more star systems will slip through your fingers. The Alliance destroyed the Death Stars and will continue to fight your oppression where ever it is!

Description

Dac, known by offworlders as Mon Calamari or Mon Cala, is the homeworld of the Mon Calamari, Quarren, and Whaladon species as well as a host of other aquatic lifeforms. The planet is mostly tropical ocean with some shallow reefs and a few islands dotting the surface, which are the location of permanent surface settlements to host citizens of other planets when they visit Dac.

During Imperial rule, Dac was subjugated by the Empire with the help of the Quarrens, who were currently at odds with the Mon Calamari neighbors. However, Imperial destruction and massacre on the planet (meant to destroy morale and deflate any thoughts of rebellion) backfired, causing the Mon Calamari and Quarrens to unite in a massive effort to expel the Empire. The push was a resounding success and the resistance not only managed to liberate Dac, but the entire sector as well.

At this time, the Mon Calamari made plans to formally join the Rebel Alliance to offer them ships and soldiers in their fight against the Empire. Their aid was instrumental in a Rebel triumph and heroes like Admiral Akbar, who hailed from the world, provided tactical support that was paramount to victory in several key battles.

Because of the importance to not just the Rebel Navy but also Rebel morale, Dac was targeted after the Battle of Endor by Remnant forces, who unleashed a series of new weapons known as World Devastators on the planet. These colossal machines would consume surface material and convert it into energy. Entire cities were swallowed by the metal beasts but Rogue Squadron and the Alliance were eventually able to bring them down.

After rebuilding from the assault, the citizens of Dac would help establish the New Republic. It remains a symbol of inspiration for those who fought to depose the Empire.

Control of Dac will allow New Republic players to produce Mon Calamari ship designs. Other players will see a reduction in build time for capital-class ships.
