Yes. All units, heroes, and props will be getting a new model and texture in the next release.

brillent idea, a way to catch infantry units before they run away
On a different note, you know your new at-at model, just wondering when it uses it deploy troops ability, will the troops come out will the side panels slide open as they are meant to do or will they just come out the belly?

Actually, the belly does have a hatch for troops to deploy from as well. If I remember correctly, it's really more of an emergency escape hatch... Either way, they will deploy from the bottom still, simply because the way that ability works would make a side deployment very difficult to create.

Nice to see some neat new infantry abilities. Nifty way to lock down enemy infantry type units without having a hero nearby.

Thank you. The main idea here is to make infantry viable in the late-game phases. As the game was, infantry VERY rapidly became nothing more than fodder. Which really...in a pitched vehicle battle they will be anyway...but hopefully allowing these abilities only after tech 3 will create a balance which will make the game more enjoyable and not turn it into a tank-fest as is so often the case.

My goal is to give every single unit at least one interesting ability (so lock S-foils and "spread out" don't count as an ability in that sense...)

Interesting ideas. Definitely going to be nice to see more abilities that affect tactics.

On that note, are you going to include more infantry only areas/maps?

So, if you can enable abilities based on tech level, is it possible to overwrite old abilities based on tech level?

Yes. Consider the magnetically sealed armor abilities for imperial walkers... They change when the prerequisite upgrade is researched...tech levels can be used as prerequisites so it should be possible, in theory.

You know what would be awesome is if when you activated the ability they actually said set for stun just like in the movie.

Thank you the Stormtroopers in Vanilla and in many other mods are god awful I like to use a lot of infantry tactics so I'm Excited for the Infantry overhauls.

Indeed. Infantry got weak very quickly and eventually just weren't even worth building. That's the problem with rock/paper/scissors gameplay is that eventually, everyone only builds "rock" because everything else is worthless.

By adding creative abilities to infantry and all units, I'm hoping that I can make even average units useful in some respect. Obviously I don't want to make them more POWERFUL...because that isn't realistic and isn't balanced. BUT...abilities do allow for a more creative player to come up with some interesting tactics that a player may not expect.

What are your plans for the NR Troopers? Also; will they receive a visual overhaul to indicate that they are no longer Rebel troopers?

May I recommend this?: Img2.wikia.nocookie.net

Yes that's exactly the trooper concept I was going to use, actually. I may not include the face mask for all of them but I planned on using that armor, mostly.

Description

Yep, Stormtroopers get their stun rounds from A New Hope. It's a special ability that becomes available after tech level 3 and is used like the "swap weapons" ability that Bossk has in the vanilla game. Stun rounds do what you would expect; completely immobilizing infantry and ground heroes (that aren't vehicles). However, they do almost no damage and the fire rate is slow. Custom sound effects included.
