I'm guessing that the Lictor will serve a similar role as the Kiltirin, but will have a heavier combat profile?

Right! It will also be able to build light vehicles on conquered planets, without the need for a basic factory (though with some limitations and at a higher price).

Not a complaint - why does it have a cage around the engines?

I'm really not sure, to be honest. I just used the original artwork to go off of and I mostly think the original artist put it there for aesthetic reasons, to balance the ship out.

The engine needs a safe space. XD

But nice too see the Kiltirin's big brother as well. I said it before, but I love these kind of "industrial" ships.^^

I like them too. They really exemplify the "used universe" theme that Lucas coined and they have such a powerful aura about them... They just feel rugged and tested, like a scarred old Army General. It might be old and certainly isn't pretty...but it can still kick your ***.

I remember reading somewhere that the cage around the engines was supposed to be a long range communication array or something along those lines.

Damnit Farseer, you're so good at what you do, and then you make the engines 8 sided cilinders...you're killing me man.

On larger ships (such as the ISD) will you allow for a bit more polies on the cilinders? If I see the engines on those be 8 sided I might actually hang myself.

This ship was pre-clone wars...the technology to manufacture high-poly engine cowling wasn't around yet. Hehe...see, I tried to be funny.

It's easy enough to update that though, so I suppose I will go back and do that. STOP TRYING TO PUSH ME TO DO BETTER. Lol

What can I say man, real engines have curves.

Description

The Lictor was originally designed by the Mandalorian Crusaders, thousands of years before the formation of the New Republic and the Empire before it. During their war with the Old Republic, the Mandalorians used the specially designed Lictors to transport Jedi prisoners, where any other ship would be insufficient for such...resourceful cargo. Their sophisticated design, along with the reputation of those who crewed them, soon made the Lictor notorious for not only being a hearty warship but also an inescapable prison, where anyone that was taken aboard against their will was never seen again.

Fast-forward to present day and Lictors are still seen in some navies around the Galaxy, most notably, the Empire (who also used the Lictor to transport Jedi survivors after the Purge). These invaluable ships are cared for and maintained throughout the ages, being seen by their owners as more valuable than the rarest mineral or the largest vault of credits.

Rendili StarDrive attempted to manufacture a reverse-engineered Lictor design but the result, while competent in its own right, never fully lived up to the prowess of the original. However, Mandalmotors R&D is currently working to put the original Lictor designs back into mass production.
