Rise of Rome is a total conversion for EA Game's Battle for Middle Earth by AtomicWienerDog. The goal is to turn BFME into Europe during the rise of the Roman Empire. Command the disciplined legions or Rome or the powerful cavalry of Carthage in a fight for control of the ancient world. Special powers now represent figures from mythology which buff your troops, making them even more deadly on the battlefield. Rise of Rome features all new units, buildings, upgrades, and special powers along with a new musical soundtrack and 30 brand new skirmish/multiplayer maps. RoR also comes with a custom installer/launcher which will automatically set the mod up for you while keeping your original BFME intact.

AtomicWienerDog's Roman invasion continues with the release of V0.7 of Rise of Rome for BFME1! This long-awaited update is now fully compatible with v1.03 of BFME. There are also some balance tweaks, bug fixes, and a couple of new pieces of art. V0.7 requires that you have V0.45 installed on your machine, as this is just a patch and not a full install. Please consult the readme for a step-by-step on how to update your old version of Rise of Rome.

asset.dat has been cracked! within weeks we should be able to implement our own models and textures which means that Rise of Rome can really start to rock and roll then.

As of right now modding Battle for Middle Earth is proving much more of a pain in the *** than we ever imagined it would be. There are things coded into the engine that are, it seems, serving no other purpose then to add one more roadblock to modders. Hopefully we can get these issues resolved quickly otherwise things do not look good for the BFME total conversions.
