Description

No more will Rise of Kings be merely a war of knights and religion! as your nation slowly modernises itself, commerce and production also become crucial especially in raising mercenaries and upgrading your units. The sea also becomes more important, as you may also gain access to better merchant vessels which can help generate profits better either through better hull strength or speed. In short, sea trade now becomes more profitable because your civilisation may be more likely to make a quick buck on the waves than others.

This is the trade dhow, a unit we are seeking to implement for the Moors, Sicily and the Saracens. Dhows are a unique trade unit capable of better speed than normal "merchant fleet", and are meant to give these 3 factions a slight edge in making profits faster. In contrast, the merchant barque (open only to some Christian factions which researched Republic) will have better hull strength, making them somewhat more resistant to raiders. The most likely candidates for this ship would be the Baltic and Mediterranean factions such as Venice, Poland and Russia - and only if as mentioned before the right political structure is in place.

However, the one faction which tops them all in trade is Portugal, which despite having to wait a little longer, gets the merchant caravel, the best merchant ship in the game.
