Hi guys,
some time has passed since the last news here on ModDB. Some even thought we're dead.
Well, no. We are still here and working.
The thing is that we are mainly working on code-based things, like vehicle- and weapon balancing so there's not much to show yet.
Anyways, we want to use this newspost to get a bit more into detail concerning the redesign of the titanmode we are doing.
First of all it is going to be a bit more challenging than in the vanilla game as you now have to destroy the enemies anti-titan-weaponary instead of just taking it. After the destruction of the weapon the silo will get deactivated so that a new cannon can be placed. This will be done by using a handheld device, e.g the laptop on the side of the Tau'ri.
After a specific timeperiod of having the device active, the new gun will spawn and open fire and now it's up to you to defend it.
Speaking of defense. The bases around this important weaponary will be heavily guarded with many possibilites for the defenders to hold off attacks so it will be a bit harder to get to the gun and destroy it. Teamplay, especially between ground- and air-based forces will be essential for success. Like in: The Infantry has to take out the anti-air guns so that the F302s or Deathgliders can start a bombing run to quickly take down the weapon, cutting off reinforcements via Spawn.
After destroying the enemy titans shields you'll have to board it like usual but you will have to open a few doors via destroying specific objects before you can procede to essential systems like the enginecontrol, weaponcontrol, the bridge or the core.
After destroying all essential systems you have to flee like usual, the only downside is: No parachutes.
That means: You'll have to find an other way back to the ground. Alive. ;)

Well, that was a rough description of the new titan mode.
The second thing in this news is a small announcement for christmastime. An adventscalendar will be put online on our homepage at December 1st. It'll be filled with various things like screenshots or short clips from the current development, non-modrelated stuff and many other things. So if you like, you can visit us in december and look what's inside it.

I've got a quick question for you guys without having to reveal too much :p :

I'm working with SG4BF2 and I wonder how you guys got your beam effect not to "appear inside of the hull but streamline out of the weapon positions" (ie not having one long line with the middle point being the barrels and the back of it inside the vessel.. :s)? Was it done in the effect or was it code? :p

Hello there

It is a not easy thing to do, the way i did it was have the beam fire its particles backwards about the same speed as it moves ( dont peirce your own ship ) and the barrel effect also fire a much wider beam flash to merge the two together.

It may take some time to get the valumes right so it is optimal ( never gonna be perfect tough ) but be enought to do the trick =)

:O So it's actually 2 different beams being merged? Can't see that in the videos :D

Partly yes, theres 1 beam ( projectile ) and a bulkier muzzle flash to make a smoother effect

Ah so basically you align the back beam effect to be "inside" of the BC-304 model so it's actually there, you just don't see it? :p

Wicked as usual! A quick question, any chance you can track the fired entities to display them on radar ie show missiles and such on the minimap? :p (Only in space lol)

We may implement that.

Ight, would be a cool and realistic thing to have if the space ships can move and therefore if the missiles are not completely tracking/homing evade missiles!
