Some time ago we dropped RVE 1.2 as the next version number and changed it to 2.0, the reason being was we didn't want people thinking RVE 1.2 was just a update of 1.1, when its so much more so that's the reason behind the version number change, I was also calling it 1.2 from force of habit but no more .


I thought i would post up in the news feed what the current progress with the mod and what we are working on at this point in time plus some info about RVE 2.0.

Mod Progress

There is currently only two members of RVE team, me and Avtius_12, We did have some helpers at some point but they have moved on so please understand the amount of time needed to do a overhaul of a game when its just two people working on it.

Mod Progress is slow at the moment as the Research Tree layout are holding use but i have been working on other parts of the mod but to start bug/balance testing we need the tree up and running in the mod.

We are holding off adding new units to the mod until we have balanced the units already in the mod adding more units just pushing the mod back even more from a Public release.

Research Tool

We are currently sourcing a programmer to make a research tree editor tool, I have been discussing with a programmer over this week and he plans to look into this weekend as former RVE member Madface doesn't have enough time to complete the tool. After waiting week after week i've started looking else where, Like any thing it costs money. We plan to spend the donations we have gotten on the research tree tool, Some fundraising may be needed but will all depend on the pricing
I can make all the layouts for the tree by hand without a tool as you have seen in the images, But as we plan to make different layouts for the research tree we really need a tool to do so efficiently or I will be spending way to much time just on codding the layouts.

Donations like normal are not forced on any one, If you would like to help in the fundraising of the Research Tree Tool it will be much appreciated, This tools cost is $200 AUD we plan to use some of the RVE donation funds for this tool but extra fundraising is still needed. After the research editor tool has been finish we also have a new Mod Manager lined up to be made cost is still unknown at this point in time.

The Research Tree Editor is in the process of being programmed a demo picture of the tool is up in the pictures.

Final touches are being made to the tool, then we will start working on the layout and will post these up for feedback.

Mod Manager

If all goes well with the Research tool we will also be lining up for a new mod manager to be made, once again this may need fundraising if it ever wants to see the light of day.

About RVE v2.0

A lot of people have played RVE v1.1 over the past years, This version we are now calling "legacy" as it has been discontinued, RVE v2.0 was made from scratch with some of the FA units being used as place holders along with a few similar features from v1.1 like the tech toggle.

About UnitPort
Unitport is a side mod for RVE v1.1 made by ALBINOsnowball this mod isn't supported by the RVE team but we do welcome any side mods people may make which is why its linked through our mod page, Any support needed for this mod people should contact ALBINOsnowball.

The game will crash when using an Aeon Faction. Time in game for this to occur can be accelerated by changing the AI to MAX(slider bars all the way to the right). In a normal game it takes about 1 hour. Accelerated with the cheatin AI, it takes 10-15 minutes. This is ONLY happening when there is an AEON faction. The crash is simply that the units all freeze. You can still navigate the menues. The game does lockup completely but that is after you try and QUIT. Also, it isn't specific to the REVAMP mod(the latest 1.05 and patch). The 2013 and scale mods have the same crash.

Sorry if you see this post twice, I meant for it to be here on the main page of this mod.

Anyone can duplicate this issue. Install either Revamp or 2013 mod. Select map field of isis, one or more Aeon using all 4 players with you observing. Set the AI MAX(bars all the way to the right). Select game speed FAST. Set 2 teams right and left side of screen. Within 10 -15 minutes of game time, it will crash.

Afterwards do the same test but with NO Aeon and the game will complete. I am running the same setup right now but with UEF, Cybran and 50 minutes in without a crash.

Have a look at the date of revamp 1.05 all crashes have been resolved in 1.2 also i know what the problem was did you test using the DLC + the 1.05 patch? S2.postimage.org S2.postimage.org

Yes, test is with DLC + 1.05 + 1.05 Patch. Installed with mod manager. It also happens when running the 2013 mod, and the scale mod with FA economy.

I currently am using DLC enabled + 1.05 + 1.05 Patch + mithys mod support v7 installed with mod manager 1.02. I can duplicate this issue every time on field of isis with Aeon. I tried Aeon on some other maps and no crash. Seems the issue is with Aeon and Field of Isis.

Just to confirm I am not crazy.

I just started a match on my roomates computer with revamp(DLC Enabled) and the game froze in exactly the same way(simulation stops but UI, video and sound are still working.) He has different hardware and an ATI video card. I have nvidia. It froze 12 minutes of gameplay time.

At this point I would say that anyone who tests and doesn't crash isn't duplicating EXACTLY what I am.

1) Field of Isis
2) 1 or more Aeon, using all 4 players as AI. Player is observing
3) Assasination
4) Game Speed FAST
5) 2 Teams separated Left Screen , Right Screen, for example: team 1 on left, team 2 on right. You will need to change spawn to FIXED.
6) Cheating AI with all slider bars to the right

The game speed FAST and Cheating AI are there so I can duplicate the issue as fast as possible. So for testing purposes.

I am not trying to be a jerk here. I appreciate the help. I am really just asking Revamp(Live or die) for help. Please. thank you.

i know i shouldent post anything usless here but man if you have cheating AI and high speed and every bar to the right and observing that's asking for trouble i mean if your that good go play other players online...

lol I am not that good. The crash will still happen without fast and cheating AI. I just cranked that stuff up to get the game to crash in 12 minutes instead of an hour.

The crash seems map based as you said you can make it crash on any other level meaning it not a problem with any mod, scale mods put more load on the game so what every the problem is cant handle that amount of load, I did test it and it didnt crash on a 500 cap limit.

I just installed on a 3rd computer. this time my Laptop. The game simulation stopped at 12 minutes.

I am 100% convinced this isn't hardware.

The only thing similar between the 2 desktop PC and my Laptop are they all have windows 7 64bit. Ultimate on the desktops and Home premium on the laptop.

What possible issue with software or hardware would be so specific to one game, one map, one faction anyway?

But, hearing how support will be given after everything,i am hoping for some new tactical options.....

I did have an idea for the Aeon equivalent of the UEF Noah or ur Cybran Drone launcher.....

One way to make Teleport as epic as those.

I figured out a way to narrow the issue even further.

Exclusions! I selected several exclusions from the Exclusions tab. The game completed without crashes. Next, I would select one less exclusion until I narrowed it down to one exclusion. Nukes!!!

If I select the exclusion "No Nukes" the game doesn't crash.

So to summarize, one game, one map, one faction, one exclusion. I would call that a software bug.

What makes this strange to an end user like myself is that the other mods 2013, and scale with FA economy the AI doesn't even atempt to use nukes anyway. Still the game crashes without the no nuke exclusion. Revamp AI still use nukes.

I would seem like that map has a bug the only reason the normal game doesn't bring it to attention would be because its not under the same amount of load, Setting the unit cap to 500 i couldn't get it to crash.
