42 Year have past. Long enough for the world to heal. Long enough to forget the horrors of the war that almost claimed not only our lives, but that of our entire world. From the east came the Empire, their mecha and weapons soon overwhelmed the defenders of the Allied Kingdoms but, they were beaten.

Three warrior from the Kingdom Domen stood against the tide of chaos when no one else could. Wielding the powers of the eight great elements of mana, the heroes beat back the empire. However, the aftermath of what we today call the Second Imperial War was high indeed. The Empire lies in ruins, the allied kingdoms threaten to break apart from within, and Mana, the source of all magic, has vanished.

42 years have past, to the east the Empire stirs, the forests of Domen have turned dangerous, fought with monsters and bandits. Now a new generation takes to the defense of the world for now is the time for the Return to Mana.

Return to Mana: Legacy of the eight Elements is a stylized fantasy adventure inspired by several wonderfully SNES games. Based on Half Life 2's source engine, Return to Mana is a coop game for up to three player over Steam or LAN.

Features :

- Over 50 maps planned for the final version with 4 different environments.
- 3 characters with unique abilities.
- A story divided into chapters for added ease in progressing between servers.
- Real time melee combat system for a tactical experience
- 8 Schools of Magic
- And much much more.

"As the world turns the beast stirs, for time flows like a river and history repeats and the time of the return of mana approaches"

Secret of Mana is a Half-Life² Modification in which we are recreating one of the most glorious SNES games:
"Seiken Densetsu2", and as we know it, "Secret of Mana".

The mod will feature a whole world the player can interact with and level up in. And in addition to that we are planing to add coop gameplay as well. Im Dieblein, leader of the mod, and Im currently working on the player models. We have a decent team now and the story is nearly done.

Perhaps you know me of the Half-Life1 Singleplayer mod "Escape from the darkness". I add this in order to make clear that we are very dedicated in what we are doing.

Here some shots of what has already been done. Visit our mod profile or homepage in order to find out more!

Although I still think the previously shown models look disturbing, I think your latest ones are better somehow.

They look cleaner than the previous ones, especially that bunny-head critter. Have your modeller/texture artist keep working on it, because they are getting better.

thx for the interest

4 months isn't possible, a game needs time for development, soma in particular features an entire world, with chars, monsters, bosses, npcs, locations, etc...there's NO other HL2 project out there with such a tremendous amount of complexity like soma - we ain't gonna rush something so the estimated 4 year developement time is unbendable.

Well personally I like the models. It's kinda refreshing to see SOM remade without any of that anime feel that usually distracts the team members to look at more than actually working because they're obsessed with it. :P

That's actually pretty close. I think it might be the textures. Nightsage put it pretty well.

I guess its the textures and the models the textures all look too rough. It's as if the models all have sand paper for skin. The models themselves look ok I suppose. Then again thats all IMO and am only speaking for myself.

probably the cause for your allergic reaction is the way the models are rendered, or the fact, that these are quick and dirty promo renders - here's nothing new shown - but we are making progress and the detailed new models should be ariving soon :)

Something about these models... Something I can't put my finger on, is really making me hate them... I don't know if it's just the way they're rendered... they way they're modelled, or maybe it's the skins....

Something about all of these models just makes me want to vomit... Someone help me put my finger on it.... or at least agree with me that something is very wrong...
