42 Year have past. Long enough for the world to heal. Long enough to forget the horrors of the war that almost claimed not only our lives, but that of our entire world. From the east came the Empire, their mecha and weapons soon overwhelmed the defenders of the Allied Kingdoms but, they were beaten.
Three warrior from the Kingdom Domen stood against the tide of chaos when no one else could. Wielding the powers of the eight great elements of mana, the heroes beat back the empire. However, the aftermath of what we today call the Second Imperial War was high indeed. The Empire lies in ruins, the allied kingdoms threaten to break apart from within, and Mana, the source of all magic, has vanished.
42 years have past, to the east the Empire stirs, the forests of Domen have turned dangerous, fought with monsters and bandits. Now a new generation takes to the defense of the world for now is the time for the Return to Mana.

Secret of Mana is a Half-Life² Modification in which we are recreating one of the most glorious SNES games:
"Seiken Densetsu2", and as we know it, "Secret of Mana".
The mod will feature a whole world the player can interact with and level up in. And in addition to that we are planing to add coop gameplay as well. Im Dieblein, leader of the mod, and Im currently working on the player models. We have a decent team now and the story is nearly done.
Perhaps you know me of the Half-Life1 Singleplayer mod "Escape from the darkness". I add this in order to make clear that we are very dedicated in what we are doing.
Here some shots of what has already been done. Visit our mod profile or homepage in order to find out more!

Pure brilliance, can't wait for this mod guys it's gonna be so awesome. I'm a huge secret of mana fan and i was wondering what are your plans for multiplayer? Like will there be more than one gametype. Will it be cooperative singleplayer. If so that would be awesome. It would also be awesome if you could do battles against other players.
do you guys allow donations to support your hard work ?
nope, we are doing fine, please keep your money, as we aren't doing this for profit, we're doing this to realize a childhood dream of many.

Fake!
o well, as one of the team thats been able to walk around in our maps i can say that they are the best looking maps i've seen for a mod. Dieblein and Outlive bust their arse to make the source engine do all the crazy things that my concepts proposed. Its easy for me to pen a temple covered in waterfalls, its alot harder to make a waterfall in source that looks natural
To anyone calling those screenies fake: Tough very detailed they are easily possible. All that is required is a big imagination and lots of patience. Of course, some good concept art really helps too.. ;)
As for Source: This amount of detail can easily be handled and if the mappers of this mod can create such nice looking screenies, then I'm pretty sure that they have enough knowledge about the VIS process to keep fps within reasondable boundaries.
So in all: stop being jealous and just start being awed. I'm pretty sure that if you ask one of their level designers (or at least the one who made the map of which we can view the screenies) about their experience, that they'll give you a big list of previous projects or simply state that they already have worked so many years with different engines.
