Return to Church is multiplayer total conversion of Half-Life 2. Mod is set in around 1999 and takes place in in various church-based settings.
Player must choose his destiny either to defend humanity as a slayer or to join vampire family to extend its kin or fight as a member of werewolves clan.
Diversity of game is that every team has different classes along with their exclusive weapons, special powers and abilities as well as style of gameplay, like offensive, defensive and stealth.

Mod features three very different teams: slayers, vampires and werewolves.

  • Slayers team is slowest, however they are armed with guns and silver or holy melee weapons. Silver weapons is best against werewolves, while holy weapons are against vampires. Humans must stake their enemies in order to kill them.
  • Vampires team is very agile, they can leap, jump high and run fast, they're equipped with small melee weapons in addition they can use claws to attack. Vampires can suck blood out of their enemies to regenerate health.
  • Werewolves team is tough and agile, they can run fast, jump high and leap. They use heavy weapons like axes or maces to chop their enemies. Also they can feed on bodies of their enemies in order to restore vitality.

Hello mates, It's true that mod was dead for over year!

I take responsibility for this sad event, as i did all hard work you've seen on this mod alone, there was no team behind RTC. Sadly my free time was very limited and I couldn't bear all roles in mod development and then the project was halted and there was no-one who would have continued to work on mod.

Enough of sad news, now I'm here to form a team to return development to full speed.

The new Return to Church modification development team is recruiting for responsible & experienced:

  • Humanoid/Organic modeler (This is most needed role!)
  • Texture Artist for organic models
  • Texture Artist for weapons and other non-organic stuff
  • Concept/GFX Artist
  • Animator (Mainly for weapons, but could do some animations for third person players)

Think you could do anything for MOD? Please don't hesitate to contact me!

You have unused content, such as: levels, models, props, textures that would fit this mod theme? Please contact me if you're willing to share.

I will continue to work on this mod as soon as I have free time. (I'm studying and working at the moment, so my time is very limited)

Thank you for reading through news of this mod! I hope there would be kind people who could help this mod!

If you have any ideas for mod, then I'm listening :)

The founder of RTC

Any chance of this mod being revived? If not, release the code and resources to be completed by members of the community.

i understand that you're having a hard time with all the work falling up to you but i wan't you to know that the Moddb community supports you and is very excited to the release of such great work. your models look amazing, the battle classes are creative and so are the characters habilities. the interactive environments look filled up and detailed, i'm looking forward to see this masterpiece out, and trust that the source engine fans will fill up your servers as soon as they're available.
wish you luck :)

Hello, I will not leave mod, though now My financial situation is very hard and so I'm working as full time flash game developer on big project so I'm investing tons of time (hundreds of hours of free time) on that project. But It'll be done in week or two, but then I'll be continuing another big flash project, which will take about one more month. Also I'm student, studies are hard ant homework take a lot of time. So the only hope for project is summer :)

I must note that while working on flash games I earned earned remarkable experience in game quality factors! Which increases chances of making RTC great, believe me :)

Mod is week away from alpha testing version, BUT in current situation that week will only come in summer.

There is nothing I could do NOW about RTC, please understand my situation and be VERY patient. (Probably during summer we will release beta version of game). I might even get RTC sponsored by Wolferion Entertainment ( which would mean that RTC is no longer No-Budget Mod.

And by the way, It is awesome that people such as You are still waiting for mod from begging :)

Thank You for understanding.
I'll be back at modding on summer.
(PM me if anyone have questions/ideas or anything else)
