The goal of Resistance and Liberation is to realistically portray the events and actions taken by the 82nd Airborne during their stay in Normandy. Our initial release will follow the regiments through a campaign that mimics that followed by the men themselves. The campaign will begin with players dropping into Normandy in the early hours of June 6th, with the ultimate objective of capturing the town of Sainte-Mere-Eglise. From there subsiquent maps will include missions based on other key areas after the D-Day.

Updates from the Team
So Eric and I went around asking the members of the team what they have been working on. You know something like, "What have you been working on for the Mod." Here are some of the replies I can share.

Mike Hufnagl

"I fixed all the bugs on mantis and changed all the ground textures over as well in Eglise.
I've been doing research on Market Garden and I'm looking at Grave, Overasellt or Groesbeek."

Did he say Market Garden? Yea, he did!

Eero R

"Working with James to get the first rough version of new gui structure done and in game.
Only code stuff for now - final visuals to follow later on. At this point, the gui will be full screen with no transparencies - just to get the working version of it ingame."

He is also working on the new website at the same time, talk about busy!

Andrew Hayes

Doing some work on research for some buildings he is working for the mod. I wish I could share what he found and has done so far. It really is top shelf work. but we should hold some things back. We like to tease you a little bit.

Ryan Cameron

"Well I've been constantly updating and fixing the Carbine animations,
working on getting the BAR to look right, and recently got a Garand midclip animation done.
I've also gotten started on the .30 Caliber Browning animations, but not much as of yet."

He did finish the Garand Mid Clip Reload. This is something that has missing from other WWII Mods. No more shooting out the rest of your rounds to reload your M1 Garand. Check this WIP Video! Tell me it isn't hot! (Note this is not in game footage)

Ryan Duffy

"I finished the carbine skin and uploaded it. Going to model the G43 now."

One line but wow, what a line! The Carbine is ready for action. Did he say G43? No, he couldn't have!

Now for the RTTF Q and A’s:

1. Will there be a cover system (like in Hells Highway) be implemented in later updates?
Due to the ease of movement capabilities in RnL and the amount of effort that is required to make a cover system, there will not be a cover system made any time soon - if ever.

2. Will tanks or vehicles ever be added in?
No, Resistance and Liberation is an 'Infantry Simulation'. We wish to focus solely on the infantry aspect of combat, as vehicles add an entirely new dimension of tactics and problems to an already strategically complex battlefield.

3. Is there an approximate length of time until the Beta is released?
The plan is to release the beta sometime in the upcoming Fall or Early Winter. As all things like this, we have to include the preface "when it is done". We have set very high standards for ourselves and do not want to let you down. However, we do not want this to take forever either. We are working as hard as we can for what they pay us.

4. When will the new website designs be put into effect?
There's a select few people working on the website project, and it depends on how their real-life time schedules change.

5. What is the equivalent to the B.A.R. (Browning Automatic Rifle) for the Germans? Carbine?
We're going to use the BAR as replacement for the 30cal on some maps to give the Allies a more mobile MG. Later on, we may counter it with the FG42. Keep in mind that not all weapons will have a counter part, sometimes you will have to be creative and work around the short comings.

That is it from the PR team for this update. Also, be sure to send in your questions for the next mid month Rttf as soon as possible. Without your questions, you would get no answers. Thank you for all your support and donations.

The guy looks like he's reloading the M1 on the shooting range. I hope he moves quicker than that under fire.

As stated numerous times, I just didn't bump up the FPS to what the engine plays the animations at, its much faster ingame.

Everything looks great. I'm ecstatic about a new German weapon, the Gewehr 43 (that's a semi-automatic rifle, like the M1 Garand.)

By the way, does anyone know what the term "cover system" means? In RnL, I already use cover to stay alive in a firefight, and to move under cover. Does this refer to Gears of War style 'sticking' to walls?

Yes. In gaming lingo, a "cover system" refers to a system by which a player can automatically "take cover" against objects in the game world. Ala Gears of War.

or if you played Killzone 2,they implemented a very creative first-person cover system, which RnL could easily put in as well.

Its really nice... but:
Something with the reload...

This games plays in a war, so you dont mean, that any soldier will sit down, relax, eat some cookies, and take time to reload his weapon?
Thats just an point that gets me so goat, at all this war games.

But, this mod is nice :)

wow guys, that's an eight second reload time on your M1. Be sure to speed it way up before release. Have you guys ever used an M1? The typical reload is probably three seconds if you're used to doing it all the time. Maybe less, i never timed it lol.

If you are talking about the M1 Garand, it looks slow because it is a render and I never upped the FPS to what the engine plays it at, I assure you it is faster ingame. :]

The song is called "In The Mood."

And I believe he was just joking. It's a mod not a game studio.
