This mod works ONLY in the STEAM version of Half-Life 1. Running. It feels like it's the only thing you've ever done. Run. Ran. Fled. But who could blame you? It started with the flu, or some sort of strange cold. That shit doesn't matter now. What matters is the fact that zombies, and strange monsters, and god knows WHAT else are out there. Better yet, they're right behind you. Kill them? Fat chance. The only gun you've seen in a good amount of time ran out of ammo hours ago, and that rusty old pipe in your hands doesn't look like any zombie killer you've ever seen. Finally, you see something that looks safe. Its an old Inn, the kind you'd see on the side of the road while driving down an interstate. You seem to have traveled from the city a bit, and the door to the main building is open. As you draw closer, and closer, it shuts! Suddenly, the entire situation seems ten times worse. From all around, zombies are swarming over you...

I just received an email from an extremely helpful guy under the name of "MastaGunZ" with instructions on how to get the mod running on Vista. The fix isn't glamorous (IE, it doesn't come with a fancy installer, so you'll have to do some stuff yourself) but most importantly, it is confirmed to work.

After spending days ripping out portions of the game to discover the bug and testing over and over (despite what certain people who shall remain nameless have said), help came from an outside source. Therefore, all credit for this Vsta patch goes to MastaGunZ and Ackart. This is what you need to do to get it working from the man himself

"Tested and working in Windows32 bit for me and another guy tested, he got it to work too.

Put the half-life.exe in compatibility mode for Windows98, start up RE:CB in opengl, create a game with the map crimson_mall, after it loads you can join any server and it should work! "

Again, you will have to set the .exe compatibility yourself. If you are unsure how to do so, you may find a series of picture instructions to guide you here:

This fix is also MORE ideal than a code fix, as changing the code would mean that Vista players wouldn't be able to play with the XP guys and vice versa. THIS fix means that everyone can play together. Have fun, and thanks again to MastaGunZ.
