Republic at War is a total conversion modification for Star Wars Empire at War Forces of Corruption. The mod replaces the Empire with the Galactic Republic and the Rebel Alliance with the Confederacy. Republic at War focuses heavily on the theatrical films but also contains content from the Clone Wars cartoon series as well as the expanded universe. Players can re-enact various Clone War campaigns such as the Outer Rim Sieges. Players will have the choice to fight as either the CIS or the Republic and wage war for control of the galaxy. Realism is key and players will have unprecedented control over how and where they fight. Push forward with an entire clone legion such as the 501st or 212th or overwhelm your opponent with a seemingly endless number of B1 battledroids. The choice is yours. There are also a number of expansions planned that will add new (as well as polish existing) content.
Its a good mod with almost all the elements from the Republic and Separatists. The problem is the AI. For some reason the AI will spam certain t hings like when you are the the Sepratists. the computer would just sometimes spam Aclamators or even corvettes and even Venators. This even happens when you are the Republic. The computer will just spam munificents sometimes corvettes lucure hulks.
Overall though its a pretty fantastic mod.
The first mod I ever downloaded for Star Wars: Empire at War Forces of Corruption. I love the detail and the changes in gameplay which makes it very realistic as if it were a separate game itself. The sound and voices also fit into the game. The only thing that does not sound realistic is Shaak Ti's voice when you select her, etc.
Nevertheless, I give this mod a 10/10. A very big star wars fan here! ^__^
Put simply, it's mod worthy of being it's own game. The guys at lucas arts and, er Disney I suppose, have neglected to make a game like Empire at war or a updated version (Basically nothing on par with it). This mod, however, I believe is worth dropping the $20 you can find EaW for on steam. Republic at war adds so much value to an already amazing experience, and even though the game's graphics haven't aged well, this mod takes it's already great conquest system and gave it a worthy Prequel makeover. Overall, if I where to recommend EaW to a friend or peer, Republic at War would be at the top of my list for reasons why they should get it.
Pretty solid mod, however I believe that space combat seems a bit harder than usual. I had to bump my difficulty down to easy just to survive the onslaught they keep throwing at me. I also wanted to bring up something that I haven't seen in the modding community for FoC...I love how you have your transition story between the clone wars and the imperial period, especially how the units and heroes change as well... I would LOVE for you all to expand on this idea and maybe add some rebellion units into this game mode to coincide with the formation of the rebellion, maybe even add some historical events like the Kaminoan Rebellion. So far this mod is amazing, especially galactic conquest, the models are great, the ai, whilst hilariously op, is a challenge and all round this is a great improvement on the original game, especially for those of us who liked the battles in the prequels more (I'm not saying the story is better, just that I like clones more than stormtroopers) one downside is that a lot of the game is reused and some hero's special abilities haven't been renamed so it thinks luminara unduli(?) is red squadron.
