Republic at War is a total conversion modification for Star Wars Empire at War Forces of Corruption. The mod replaces the Empire with the Galactic Republic and the Rebel Alliance with the Confederacy. Republic at War focuses heavily on the theatrical films but also contains content from the Clone Wars cartoon series as well as the expanded universe. Players can re-enact various Clone War campaigns such as the Outer Rim Sieges. Players will have the choice to fight as either the CIS or the Republic and wage war for control of the galaxy. Realism is key and players will have unprecedented control over how and where they fight. Push forward with an entire clone legion such as the 501st or 212th or overwhelm your opponent with a seemingly endless number of B1 battledroids. The choice is yours. There are also a number of expansions planned that will add new (as well as polish existing) content.

Report RSS August Update

A Republic at War news update for the month of August, 2012.

Current Project Status
Many of you have been wondering where we're at. We decided to shuffle some of our planned content as well as introduce some additional content that we thought would be really fun and add to the experience. We did end up pushing a few things back but the net result was more work for us than we had originally planned for.

We'll be announcing more about the expansion's release schedule, as we get closer to completion.

New Content
As explained above, we have introduced additional content that we have recently rolled into the expansion. Here is the list:

  • Deathwatch Trooper (unit, land)
  • Deathwatch APC (unit, land)
  • Deathwatch Heavy Tank (unit, land)
  • Jedi Temple (map, land, skirmish)
  • Taris (map, space, GC)

We've been looking into adding a few extra items, but we also want to get it out there so you guys can finally play it.

Deliverables
Here's a (near final) list of what the expansion will include:

  • Nearly 600 -- fully tested -- balance adjustments
  • ~3MB of additional code
  • 19 new (buildable) units
  • 1 new skirmish map
  • 3 new indigenous species
  • 3 new GC planets
  • ~1GB of new art content (models, skins, cinematics, etc)
  • ~150MB of new audio
  • AI adjustments & tweaks

We're nearing completion on all of these points.

Beta

For those of you that have not heard, we will be beginning a closed beta (similar to last year) that will last for a number of weeks and end a few days before the final (public) release. All 1.1 testers will be invited back and we'll be also looking for additional bodies to help us get to final release even quicker.

Information regarding dates as well as how to apply will eventually be posted in ModDB news section.

Easter Egg Hunt
Although many of you came very close to winning the easter egg hunt, we have still yet to declare a winner. For those of you who didn't know, we had a contest running where players needed to find 8 of the 10 hidden easter eggs that could be found while playing Republic at War. The winner could pick one unit, of their choice, to include in a future version of Republic at War.

Although the contest is still technically running, we'll be letting it continue to run well into the expansion to provide you guys with ample opportunity to have your favorite Clone Wars-era unit included in the mod's final unit list.

Installer
The auto-installer will work for both disk and Steam users. We're hoping to see a significant reduction in the number of questions related to the game's installation process.

Along with the mod itself, we've included an (optional) launcher that allows users to easily update their game with the latest Lucasarts August update as well as make it easier to resolve multiplayer compatibility issues (with visual aids and game cleaning functions).

Any chance that in next update (1.2) team will enhance ship/unit descriptions like this?
"Heavy warship designed for planetary defense, planetary assault, and ship-to-ship combat. Armed with multiple missile launchers the Victory-class can bombard targets from distance or engage at close range."

"Heavy warship designed for planetary defense, planetary assault, and ship-to-ship combat. Victory-class can bombard targets from distance or engage at close range. Ship is equipped with 1000 strong points shields, has 1000 points durable hull and is armed with 100 missile launchers and 10 turbolasers."
This will be nice if actually one can compare ships without looking at xml files.
