They've got Frostbite for the upcoming Generals sequel, but why not use an optimised, time-tested technology that still looks good and kicks *** (thanks to the guys at Renovatio team)?

Because, to EA, it's all about the money. Advertising and creating a RTS game from the Frostbite 2 engine is going to get them a lot of money.
