Move It
Sep 15, 2008 Music 5 commentsA remake of the classic "Move It" from C&C Renegade. Fast themed, created by Sebastian.
Renegade X (formerly known as Renegade 2007) is a mod dedicated to recreating C&C Renegade in the new generation engine, the Unreal Engine 3. We all believe the Command and Conquer series is a very special one, and its fans have been following its games for over a decade now. C&C has been one of the most successful videogame series in the RTS Genre. Our modding team believes that C&C Renegade is truly a hidden gem in the FPS genre.
C&C Renegade's specialty was its multiplayer mode, because it was not mindless killing like most games. A player was thrown into a battle as soon as he joined a server, in which teamplay was the only way to win. The game revolves around a war between the Global Defense Initiative, and the Brotherhood of Nod. Each faction would have their own base of operations consisting of buildings. A team had to work together to destroy the enemy base, while keeping theirs intact. By simply switching engines, our team will have fixed many of C&C Renegade's faults. The original game had many problems such as bad netcoding, poor graphics, glitches, etc. Our main goal is to bring this great gameplay to the masses, all the graphical enhancements is merely just icing on the cake.
There are 2 ways to destroy an enemy building- you can either destroy them by infiltrating the structure and planting C4 explosives, or you can bombard it with vehicles and weapons from the outside. You also have 14 classes of Infantry per team to choose from, as well as 15 vehicles in total.
We also plan on adding plenty of new features that the original Renegade didn't ship with, such as:
We plan on remaking the original standard maps in the new-generation format. The team will be taking advantage of the engine by using much more polygons and bigger resolutions of textures. Although the maps will keep their original appearance and feel introduced in Renegade, they will graphically be much better than the initial versions. Of course, that being said, our project is not only limited to remaking the original maps. We will be making maps of our own design, which will all be littered with strategic and vantage points.
All ingame models will have a fresh new look with todays standards of 3d design, such as normal mapping, bump mapping, and will all be dynamically lit up during gameplay.

Renegade X is a total conversion modification for Unreal Tournament 3. Our ultimate goal is to once again shine some light on a forgotten game, which held within itself a hidden gem that went unnoticed.
The team is comprised of many professional members, each with prerequisite experiences in other mods and even stand-alone games.
We are an extremely passionate team focused on a single goal, to reincarnate Command & Conquer Renegade. With a green light from EA-LA, we have been in development since march of 2006, and acquired a head start in production in this war-themed mod.

I'll get UT3 JUST for this mod (Torrent LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL)
If you torrent it, you won't be able to play the mod online =)
Just go buy it, it's only twenty or so bucks.
well i just got ut3 a few days ago, and while its a good game itself, i mainly got it for this mod so im all ready for when its done
You won't be disappointed.
Hmm.... It's been a little quiet here lately.
Rest assured though the Renegade-X team is hard @ work. I truly find it amazing what you guys are doing. This team right here has true talent. EA games would actually be doing something smart if they contracted you guys. lol

Yes it's been quite... too quite :P Now you know a big update is coming up.
Just some questions.
Are the chances high or low in the success of a ps3 version?
if not then i will still have high interests.
Also...
1. how fast is character movement, IMO UT3 movemement is too fast, + there is no walking just running, will you be changing this or keeping it the same?
2. How is the UI looking is there anymore you can tell us about it?
3. will you implement events during the game, sorta like cutscenes when you reach a certain point or something, UT3 is capable of doing this (as seen in the mod "the ball") but doesnt do it, i think it adds to the immersiveness if you do (ie you capture 2 areas then Some NOD forces fly in establishing more of a presence).
I am very interested and hope you can begin to tell us more!
If we do a PS3 version, then it would be after we're completely finished with the PC version. So it's far away and we're still unsure about it.
The other thing is that since this is a multiplayer mod that needs lots of players, I don't know if consoles are suitable for it.
1. We've slowed down the character movement just a bit so right now it's as fast as they ran in C&C Renegade.
2. No comment at the moment
3. Well cut scenes ingame are kind of unnecessary and probably annoying with the gameplay we're going for, but not to worry, our insane superweapons (nuke and ion cannon) will make up for some super awesome cinematic goodness :P
Nope. We don't have a license to the Unreal Engine as it costs hundreds of thousands of dollars. Also, since C&C is EA's intellectual property they wouldn't let us make it standalone.
But dude, UT3 is like 25 bucks these days. Might as well count your pennies and go ahead and buy it. It's not expensive.
