Renegade X is a mod dedicated to recreating C&C Renegade in the new generation engine, the Unreal Engine 3. We all believe the Command and Conquer series is a very special one, and its fans have been following its games for over a decade now. C&C has been one of the most successful videogame series in the RTS Genre. Our modding team believes that C&C Renegade is truly a hidden gem in the FPS genre. C&C Renegade's specialty was its multiplayer mode, because it was not mindless killing like most games. A player was thrown into a battle as soon as he joined a server, in which teamplay was the only way to win. The game revolves around a war between the Global Defense Initiative, and the Brotherhood of Nod. Each faction would have their own base of operations consisting of buildings. A team had to work together to destroy the enemy base, while keeping theirs intact. Obelisk/Advanced Guard Tower (Base defenses) Without these, your team has no automatic defense. It's the time of year again!

ReneGame is an annual event dedicated to celebrating the birthday of Command & Conquer: Renegade. The original game was released on February 26th, 2002, and will be turning 9 years old later this month.

To celebrate, Totem Arts and MP-Gaming will be hosting this year's ReneGame on Renegade X v.0.55 for Unreal Tournament 3. The game will take place on Saturday, February 26th, at 3:00pm Eastern Standard Time (GMT -5).

After the successes of our previous two events in 2011, we gladly invite you all to join us in celebration. This is your opportunity to play with the Renegade X developers, ask questions, team up with us or against us, and get some classic R&R&R: Rest, Relaxation, and Renegade!

If you haven't tried the beta yet, what are you waiting for? Pick up Unreal Tournament 3, get the latest patch, and download Renegade X 0.55 here: Renegade-x.com

We will be playing on MP-Gaming's RenegadeXServer.com. Any custom server content will be downloaded upon joining the server. However, if you'd like to install the custom content manually (or are having problems downloading it from the server), please visit THIS THREAD, and look under the heading "Newcomers and Required Downloads" in post #1.

Teamspeak details will be announced soon!

The developers hope to see you on Saturday, February 26th 2011, at 3:00pm EST!

Unfortunately, I still don't have UT3. Doubly sadly, even if I did, I don't have any room on my computer for it :'(

Do you know if TheGunrun will also stream part of this event?

It works for Steam, but the installation process is different. If you need help, post a thread in the support section of our forums.

Hmmm.... I think I will join. LOL , if you are desperate to play Renegade-X

Just download Ut3 Pirated Bay ( Everyone is a server ) and patch to latest ( UT3 don't need CD, but CD key needed , i got 1k of the serial numbers )
and download install renegade x 0.55 and patch to 0.551v and play.

If you want for play for free.
:S

If you don't want to burn some cash for UT3 you do it that way, or you wait it release UDK.

Well, buried this if i said something wrong and ilegal, just fulfilling their dreams to play renegade-X so desperate

Considering Epic games have released the UDK, (and allow you to sell your UDK games for up to FIFTY THOUSAND DOLLARS before they ask for a dime - USING THEIR ENGINE) then you should have a little more respect for them. Buy their game. Its not expensive.
Torrents have their use, but encouraging people to illegaly torrent games on a website such a moddb is just pathetic.

Can't Start Renegade X after the Server-Client updates to 0.552
Everythig worked fine till the Last Version.
I played Renegade X before, but right after it "succesfully" updated to 0.552(critical update, yeah...), the Program in stantly crashes, when closing the Message-Window about the "succesful Update".

I dunno, what you've changed on the Server-Client, but it's funcionality is now at ZERO, crashing everytime I start it.

My System is a WinXP 32Bit, 4GB RAM, and about 700GB Free Space on C-(+1Free 1TB-HDD)

1.Just reinstalled 0.55(after deinstalling 0.552), and re-updating again.
> Still not working.

2. Uninstalled Renegade X again, then deleted the entire Mod-Folder
> Renegade-X.exe mismatches the File on the Server
(at least a recognizeable Error)
manually starting Updater.exe > updating again
> 1. again, hmpf!

If this keeps up, I hope for a complete, working 0.552-Download, without having to use the Auto-Updater(that seemingly kills the Server-Client when downloading).

@ ImperialKaskins :
You are a stupid moron, UT3 is available for only 10 bucks at retail-stores, if you think, that's too much to pay, then get a Job!
Oh, and if you want to whine about me calling you "a stupid moron", think about your illegal suggestion, insulting my eyes and Mod DB.

Ah, found a workaround:

After reinstalling the Mod with the Renegade X 0.55-Installer, I copied the Renegade-X.exe to the Desktop, then Updated, then, after having RenegadeX crash after patching to 0.552, I placed the 0.55-Frontend-Exe back into the Folder.

I still don't understand, what's up with the Updated Frontend/Update-Process, resulting in a corrupted Renegade-X.exe, but at least, the Mod works with this workaround.

Thanks for the Informations.
That Updates-Statement clears my question, on how that problem occurred.
Using the new patcher now, to update it correctly.
Also, I'm wondering, if the Updater uses Checksums, like MD5 for validating the downloaded content.
I'm also wondering, if the Updater deletes files, before downloading their new counterparts, or if it downloads them with a temprary filename, (like filename.extension.tmp) and replaces the old files with them after successfully verifying the downloaded ones.

Hmm, the New Frontend keeps crashing, no matter, what I try, even after replacing it with the frontend-EXE from the Forum.

why not hosting a Renegade server for celebrating this? Renegade has something what renX doesnt have, thats gameplay and fun.

I dont think renegade will release a UDK version. It takes alot of work to convert a UT3 mod to a UDK game due to the fact that you can't use UT3 assets in UDK, it automatically detects them and strips them out (plus its against the EULA of UDK). So they'd have to make their own models for each prefab UT3 model that they used, among other reasons. I think they've made the right choice by sticking with UT3. Tactical Assault made the move from UT3 to UDK and it cost us months and months of extra work.

We are moving over to the UDK, and it has been months since we've made that decision, and will be another few months for it to be finished. But it will be worth all the work.
