I like how the new look manages to ground the Allies in the timeline, show off weird science, and show how unconventional and experimental this stuff is all at once.

Love the new armored car look, fits with it better than the last model which looked like a weird minivan with a particle accelerator strapped on.
PErsonally I prefer the older model. Sure this one looks better in terms of quality and detail, but it looks more like a prototype or proof of concept before it was properly weaponised. As they've just taken a jeep and rammed the particle accelerator on top of it.
The old model looked more like somthing the military would field and it looked like it had been disigned to be amphibious. This new model looks like it would float as well as bricks
The idea behind experimental vehicles is that they are, well, experimental.
Basically powerful weapons slapped onto lightly armored chassis because the technology isn't fully developed.
Oddly enough, that's the exact idea behind it - the Allied Peacekeeping Forces are getting so tense that they are demanding these new wonder weapons NOW, and so they have turned to taking these advanced technologies and strapping them to the nearest working vehicle they had on hand. Explains why they're so Glass Cannonish in-game skirmish wise.
I know that but what I'm saying is that this looks like, the thing they showed to the military and said, "hey look what this can do"
