An expansion/overhaul mod of epic proportions, with entirely rebalanced gameplay, expanded factions, new gametypes, graphical overhauls, and five new factions; stealth-based Confederate Revolutionaries, tower defense-inspired Atomic Kingdom of China, economy-focused Mediterranean Syndicate, DotA-esque Order of the Talon and spammy Electrical Protectorate.

It might be beneficial for someone to create a hamachi network for paradox.

Pros:

  • You can see everyone who is online
  • Easy for newcomers to join
  • If the host also is also a tournament organizer or a commentator, it will be easy to organize
  • Easier to administrate

Cons:

  • Someone has to run it all the time, preferably someone who has a server that already always runs
  • Easier to disrupt

What do you think?

I only use hamachi for cracked games(via lan) :X it is simple to use but it violates every computer security protocol in the world and it is really annoying. Steam is still the best (and since everyone is using it anyway)

Hamchi isn't that hard to use, but trying to set up a store bought game through steam is annoying.

uhm, first of all you don't have to do it, it's enough with starting steam.

Really? *Logs into steam* Wow, I have never seen the browse button in adding a non steam game

*Waits for thread to be locked, unless someone objects*

you DO NOT need to add the non-steam game in the first place, it only makes it so you can chat with steam while ingame. It's not needed to actually set up the game, for that you just edit your user name with something liek: random name - PM for paradox

Nearly ranted about the security issues of hamachi D:

steam is very very easy and convenient to use when you know how to and way easier to contact people rather than looking at a list of nicknames and pinging their ips.

yes, hamachi is like a fake LAN and the anti virus most often lets through all LAN traffic

including the fact that you can find out where people live via your ip address

Personaly i dont which is better steam would be unquestionable if you didnt have to buy a game first before you can use the chat so i think i will stick to msn for the time being.

So, to play ra3 over steam we need to get a steam game?

Should've gotten portal while it was free.

no, just to start a conversation

you can still write tag yourself with -PM for paradox and other people will be able to contact you.

You can try getting Alien Swarm. Join the par group and add someone from in there, if it still works because the last time I tried it did.

:/ or you can buy the cheapest indie game you can find($3-10?), it'll work and in some ways worth it since not only do tons of games come out on steam but it's most possibly the easiest gaming client you will ever use. Steam does this to prevent spammers and phishers, so in some ways I can understand why they implemented this.
