Recovered Operations is a Half-Life 2 modification that aims to recreate, reinterpret, and reimagine Condition Zero: Deleted Scenes, the Counter-Strike series' sole single-player experience. However, Recovered Operations is not merely a graphical update: it will incorporate many new features and elements to create a more polished, realistic, and story-driven experience than the original game. In the mod, as in the original, players will assume the roles of various elite counter-terrorist operatives and deploy across the globe to conduct missions in different countries and environments.

Long time no see!

Today we'd like to announce the official Recovered Operations Discord community server.

As some of you might already know, we've had a community channel under the Source Modding Community server for quite a while now, and it's been great! We enjoy the interaction with you, the community, as much as you enjoy the interaction with us, the devs. However, being limited to one channel for all interaction is something that has restricted us in terms of control and structure, and this change will grant us exactly that.

With that being said, you can join our community server by clicking the banner below
or by clicking this link: Discord link

January 2018 Media Release

We failed to release this article on Christmas Eve, sorry about that.
This is what's been happening:

It's already been half a year since our last update, we promised to update you along the way but we didn't manage to live up to that, however, we have been working on something we believe has been worth the wait.

We've got an announcement to get out of the way before we get into the sweet bits of this article. As you might remember we set up and announced our forums one year ago, but since then it's been collecting dust, so we've decided for the time being to put it down. The site is currently facing down time but it'll be up again in no time, but sadly without the forums.

Jan 2017 - Jan 2018

But fear not, we have a community channel in the Source Modding Community Discord server and we'd love to chat with you there!

We've been flexing our weapon renders lately, time for a demonstration

NOTE: We've implemented a c_arms system, we'll showcase this system at a later date.

AI Update

Recovered Operations: AI Presentation

The terrorists of RecOps use a mixture of combine soldier schedules and brand new schedules to work as original enemies. They're designed to flank you whenever they can, use grenades to flush you out more efficiently than default HL2 soldiers, and are less gung ho about charging out of cover. Although they make use of a few copied over schedules, they are a whole new enemy class and use their own AI written from the ground up, giving us maximum control over what they do and when they do it. At the moment, barring any bugs popping up, they are probably about 70-80% done. The next big challenge to improve their AI would be the addition of different behavior types for defensive and aggressive variants along with different ways of shooting and behaving based on weapon type.

From Top to Bottom: Bubsy, Cuban, Grimes.

We went back to the drawing board and we proudly present you the REAL Seal Team 6 operatives.

What next...?

And that concludes the media release article, and as promised we'll continue putting all our love and effort into Recovered Operations. Make sure to keep checking in as we will stay in touch with the community through our Twitter, in our Discord channel as well as posting updates on Mod DB.

June 2017 Media Release

We promised to keep you updated and here we are again with another media release.
This is what's been happening:

Since we last updated you we've been hard at work composing, animating, modeling, drawing concept art and much more, some of which we'll show off in this article and some that will be shown off later in another article.

To start this off this media release we have three tracks we’d like you to listen to. These are all tracks to be featured in the mission `Recoil`.

All tracks composed by our talented composer, David M.

Last time we showed off a couple of guns, here are two more

Just look at this bad boy, the Desert Eagle Mark XIX .50AE
Capable of literally blowing your mind, and then some.

We also have an AKM model to show off, but this one was made by our animator, this is also their first model ever and we think it turned out great!

This beauty was made by our second wonderful 3D artist, Hoàng L.

Recovered Operations: Desert Eagle Mark XIX

The AKM made by our fabulous animator, Budai G.

Since we all like weapons in motion, here is a look at the Beretta 8000 2.0 and Desert Eagle

“Didn’t you show off the Cougar in the last article?”, you may ask. And the answer to that is yes. Yes we did. Our animator has been hard at work trying to find their style and they finally have found their own unique style of animating, and this is the Cougar and Desert Eagle in action with this new style applied.

Done by our fabulous animator, Budai G.

Now over to some concept art, these are some of the key ST6 operatives

From Top to Bottom: Commander, Delta Sniper, “Operative” w/ outfit concept.

These concept art pieces have been put together by our (yet again) wonderful 2D artist, Hoang L.

Recovered Operations: ST6 Commander

Recovered Operations: ST6 Delta Sniper

What next...?

And that concludes the media release article, and as promised we'll continue putting effort into Recovered Operations. Make sure to keep checking in as we will stay in touch with the community through our forums, as well as posting updates on ModDB.

January 2017 Media Release

Our last update was over half a year ago. 9 months to be exact, but this article will make up for it.
This is what's been happening:

So, it's finally here, the media update we've been talking about for so long, originally supposed to be out some time in 2016, then by the end of that year to the beginning of this year. But because of all the set backs we've had to hold it off until now, but again, it's finally here now and the wait is over at last.
We'd also like to apologize for the lack of updates throughout the years, it's been a bumpy ride from the start but things are finally stable and with that we're ready to go through this year at full speed!

First off all, we've opened our own forums. This way we can build a solid community and much more!
Click here to visit the forums

The forums for Recovered Operations

Recovered Operations: Forums

Now, here are some weapons that are featured in Recovered Operations

Here we have the Beretta 8000 (Cougar) and Heckler & Koch USP Tactical.

Both models made by our wonderful 3D artist, Luke L.

Development Update

We've been doing Recovered Operations since the 1st of November 2013, and so you might be asking
"How long left until release?", "Where is the demo?" or the infamous "Dead?"

And well, we really don't have any answer to the first two, but the last one is a clear negative, we're still alive and strong. As stated earlier, it's been a bumpy ride since the beginning and the truth of the matter is that Recovered Operations is nowhere near finished because of the pace it's going at right now, but we hope to change that.
If you want to contribute or become a developer please do check out our forums, more information can be found there in the Applications Center.

And now over to some level design shots. These are taken inside the Counter Terrorism training complex. Upon doing story related work we decided that the introduction of the game could of had a whole lot more to it, so we went ahead and did just that.

Level design done by the one and only, Jack M.

Weapons look even better in motion, so here is an extra look at the Beretta 8000.

Done by our bravest soldier, Budai G.

And last but not least, some sound design previews.

But not any kind of sound design.

Remember Nox Aeterna? Their sound programmer, David M. has recently joined forces with us and is now crafting the finest experience there is to have in Recovered Operations when it comes to sound, joined by Jack M's beautiful sound design.

These two pieces of sound art is by our lovely, David M.

Recovered Operations: Distance Fading Sounds Demo

What next...?

We're going to continue putting effort into this game we need all the help we can get to make this as good as it can possibly be. Make sure to keep checking in as we will stay in touch with the community through our forums, as well as posting updates on ModDB.
