S.T.A.L.K.E.R .Rebalanced. v1.2

Is a global mod in a single complete package that aims to provide an evolutionary enhancement of the single most atmospheric game of 2007, if not ever, Stalker: Shadow of Chernobyl.  Almost all aspects of the gameplay have been re-balanced to be fair, fun, deadly and a redefinition of your ultimate Stalker experience.

What does all this mean for you?

This mod enhances the retail version of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. - Shadow of Chernobyl through improved; graphics, sound, balance, AI/A-life, day/night weather, weapon ballistics, ragdolls, quests, trading, unique items, text/interaction, interactivity, artifacts, health & sleep system, options, hidden secrets and bug fixes.  It's hard to explain, but now the game simply feels smooth, like it never has before.

This is a well refined and tested mod that the team has been developing and improving on in one form or another since Stalker's first release in 2007.  Over that time many pages of user feedback have gone into polishing it's many builds and iterations with the last major release being out since January 2009 and the next build has undergone many more improvements, tweaks and implementations that have totally improved upon the end product since then.

Stalkers,

You will be pleased to know that progress on the Reb v1.2 release is going very well at this time. I am making play-through runs testing for aspects of overall balance and other issues. Bug finds are being dealt with, the balance and progression throughout the game is becoming.... YES!

I have had a chance to reflect on the aspects of what I believe Stalker should be, and what I aim to make it into with this mod. The Zone is a gritty place, where ammunitions and other supplies are scarce, hard to come by and expensive. 

The balance I am going for is an excellent blend of challenge, fun and desperation. Stalker is just a better game when you are fighting tooth and nail for every square meter, where decisions have consequences, where the economy is based on scarcity, where the only things you have to use is what you have available at the time and nothing else.

You see Stalker is not a Shooter, it's also not an RPG, it's not a Survival Horror or even an Adventure Game. But it is a blend of elements from all of these genres, plus its own unique characteristics. This is a mix that I believe the developers did not get right in the retail release, and that is what I am addressing in this mod. Previous releases have been too much in favour of the shooter, where ammunition and med kits are plentiful and there is little consequence from a run and gun style of sprinting into fire fights with big magazines on full auto assault rifles. This is a Stalker where you will need to pick your fights, assess your resources, which you may find diminish or change during every contact with the enemy.

Don't get me wrong, there is still scope to play with big guns blazing if that is your preferred gamming style, but if you do, you will have to work for it now.

Hi, excellent questions;

Yes, stealth works perfectly. I especially love doing the Mill Case mission for Trader in the Cordon. I wait until night, take a silenced weapon and sneak around the mine field and over the back fence of the Outpost, then onto the roof of the Barracks, drop down through the man-hole, grab the case. Then sneak up the stair case, over the fence, and back out through the mine field. It's intense.

Of course, there is still the engine bug, that you don't want to load a saved game while sneaking in the shadows, or you will be magically detected. The work around for this is to save save before sneaking in, and if you get detected or killed, then you just have to do that bit again.

Sorry to disappoint, but this version is not yet released, stay tuned tho.... You can still find the old version at Stalker Files, but I wouldn't recommend it, it's rather dated now.

Okay man,i will definitely wait for the release.Also,this sounds like the dream mod i've been waiting fro ShoC for years.Economy scarcity and so on.If you also add a good hunger system(like hunger affecting energy and you being hungry more often,like 3-4 times a day),i shall love you forever(no ****).Anyway,i shall expect your mod!

Apologises to all the Mod's followers and thank you for your anticipation. Other RL commitments have got to many team members, myself, I have recently moved address and this is the first day I've got internet back on. My whole computer is still in boxes, as is most of my house.

Don't worry, this is not vapour-ware, a release is still intended. The next patch to the current RC build will be released to the testers shortly, once I'm back up and running, etc. Then the mod should be in a ready state to be released to you.

At this time, I think that I won't be including the latest ZRP in this release. Although I am anticipating a lot of great features from it, the work required to merge it in will incur even more massive delays. It will be intended for a later release of Rebalanced instead.
